I considered this but intentionally left it out as the submitter pages are already fairly slow to load and far less frequently viewed.

Ah, I see. That's understandable. Okay, then.

Considered it but opted against it originally due to the limited usefulness compared to the amount of work required to implement it. It’s not necessarily off the table forever but not currently on the list.

Please could the sections here be swapped so that the characters are listed before the misc sprites?

Thanks

I think the Requests section should be separated like the rest of the forum into sections for sprites, sounds, models, etc.

It doesn’t see enough traffic to justify splitting it up.

Sucks. I got tired of looking up the requests section to see if there's any interesting request only to see just people requesting Nintendo models.

This is how it looks on my UHD monitor with 150% scaling (recommended windows 10 option):

With 100% scaling, everything looks alright. Maybe some optimization could help?

This is not a scaling issue - it's your ad blocker. It's removing more than just the ads and then, when scaled, the layout shifts. There is nothing on our end to fix here.

Yeah, that happens at certain zoom levels when #headerad is removed. I don't know why it's so integral to the website not screwing up. Here's a workaround you can add to the "My Filters" list in uBlock Origin. I think it also works for AdGuard. For any other ad blockers, I have no idea - hopefully any syntax differences are minor.

Code:
spriters-resource.com#@##headerad
spriters-resource.com###headerad > .nomobile
spriters-resource.com#$##headerad{ height: 0 !important; padding: 1px !important }
models-resource.com#@##headerad
models-resource.com###headerad > .nomobile
models-resource.com#$##headerad{ height: 0 !important; padding: 1px !important }
textures-resource.com#@##headerad
textures-resource.com###headerad > .nomobile
textures-resource.com#$##headerad{ height: 0 !important; padding: 1px !important }
sounds-resource.com#@##headerad
sounds-resource.com###headerad > .nomobile
sounds-resource.com#$##headerad{ height: 0 !important; padding: 1px !important }

I don't know why it breaks either and haven't invested any time into figuring it out (and don't intend to - third-party software that breaks the site by modifying its output isn't really at the top of my priority list to look into).

There is an alternative solution here, of course - disable the ad blocker. I've always been a strong advocate of choice so I do nothing to hinder the use of ad blockers but obviously, we'd prefer them not to be used given that the ads pay for the server and everything else that keeps the sites running so it's kind of in poor taste to publicly explain how to work around an ad blocker breaking the site here. Like I said though, I'm an advocate of choice so I'm not going to delete the provided fix either.

Heh, I was wondering if you'd remove it. Blocking ads (be it with an ad blocker, disabling JavaScript or using reader mode) does have its ethical concerns, but I don't know what to do about it.

If ads couldn't be blocked, I wouldn't visit your website - is that a better or worse outcome? I already avoid Tom's Guide due to its autoplaying video. Rhetorical question but I'm really not sure on the answer.

I actually had this site on my whitelist: www.spriters-resource.com

Also just tested how it looks when Ublock is deactivated. Turns out the layout looks normal again and only some "Follow Us" icons are shown (Twitter, Discord, etc.).

In both cases, I can't see any kind of ads.

Like I said, I don't do anything to prevent the use of ad-blockers which is something that many sites do and something I very much disagree with. I'm not even talking about ethics or anything similar here, just pointing out that if the ad blocker is breaking the site, one possible solution is to disable it.

Technically speaking (and discounting the benefit from any contributions to the site you might make, just for the sake of simplicity), not visiting would be the better solution as you wouldn't be using resources that cost money that you're preventing from generating by blocking the ads. Of course, this is not an avenue I'm actually suggesting as the site still generates enough to pay for itself even factoring in the occasional ad block user but I did want to answer the question, rhetorical or otherwise.

Interesting, I'm not sure why you're not seeing ads if the site is whitelisted. Maybe there's some DNS blocking going on as well? Either way, I've seen ad blockers mess with the layout even when disabled or the site is whitelisted before so, while uncommon, it's possible that's what was going on. And yes, the "Follow Us" section is indeed one of the elements that gets removed unnecessarily sometimes.

Regardless though, it sounds like you're good and the site is behaving as expected now, at least as far as the layout is concerned?

Found the culprit.

Ublock had an additional cosmetic filter going on, which was responsible for messing with the layout. Now everything is normal again.

Disabling all the other filters too (remote fonts, big media elements, javascript, pop-ups) has no effect on showing ads, though.
