tSRC Giant Pixel #1 - Vipershark - 09-29-2008

Not sure if this is in the correct section, but I thought I'd try to bring back the Giant Pixel project from PT. (Mainly because we never finished in the first place :p)

Anyway, we'll be starting with the same image.

What you do, is you choose three different squares, which will each represent a pixel, and fill it them anything you want. The only requirement is that you must change each square so that is isn't just a flat color, and you must keep the base color the same as the image on the right. For example, if you're doing a square that's part of Mario's hair, you would make the square mostly brown. You can change the brightness of the base color as much as you want, but the general hue must stay the same. You wouldn't color it blue if the base is red, basically. (A helpful tip is to create a palette around the color on the right.)

Joining adjacent squares is encouraged. You don't have to do it, but if you do, the only requirement is that you can't edit someone else's square to fit yours. You must stay within your own square, and adapt yours to fit theirs.

Would anyone like to join?

RE: tSRC Giant Pixel #1 - Gors - 09-29-2008

whoa, sounds cool. I'd like to participate Big Grin

RE: tSRC Giant Pixel #1 - Vipershark - 09-29-2008

Thanks.
Go ahead, pick three squares and start editing.
The next person can go when gorsal has uploaded.

RE: tSRC Giant Pixel #1 - Alpha Six - 09-29-2008

i remember this !

one problem though, you need to label each square so people know which one to pick. A1, B3, E2, etc.

RE: tSRC Giant Pixel #1 - Vipershark - 09-29-2008

Ah, that's right. I knew I was forgetting something. I'll get on that.

RE: tSRC Giant Pixel #1 - Gors - 09-29-2008

Hmmm, I have a question.

I'm limited just to texturing or can I make objects on the squares, too?

RE: tSRC Giant Pixel #1 - Vipershark - 09-29-2008

anything you want, as long as you stay in the square and stay in the same basic hue/color

You can do whatever you want.
The goal is to have pictures and objects, but because of the colors it will still look like Mario.

Yeah.

Hey, I found the old one from PT. You can use it as an example.

Also gorsal, if you haven't started already, I'm gonna resize the mario sprite to make it the size of the PT one for more detail, etc.

RE: tSRC Giant Pixel #1 - Gors - 09-29-2008

ok, I think I'm done

If there's something wrong, tell me Tongue

RE: tSRC Giant Pixel #1 - Vipershark - 09-29-2008

Yeah, that's great.
The only thing that I can see is that the skin color looks a little bright.

But umm...
Would you mind re-doing it on a larger scale? It would probably look better in the bigger size from the PT one.

RE: tSRC Giant Pixel #1 - Gollum - 09-29-2008

... this sounds fun... I just wish I didn't have so much crap to do!

RE: tSRC Giant Pixel #1 - Gors - 09-29-2008

oh, larger scale...?

Ok... here it is.

I included the separated pixels too in case you need them.

RE: tSRC Giant Pixel #1 - Vipershark - 09-30-2008

Thanks, that's great. I decided to continue the one from PT, so I switched the red and the blue pieces to fit the template.

Okay then, since we're ready we can start the sign-ups again. So, everyone can pick three squares, and we'll go in order from there.

This is the updated version.
