NES Classics - Style switch - NetNerdy - 03-30-2015 I decided to work on a sheet where SMB2 Mario and co are in Castlevania Style poses. It's not pretty, so feedback is welcomed. RE: Mario XP - Mario in Castlevania - Kelvin - 03-30-2015 Ooh, nice to see Mario in a different playstyle, and it looks like you had to heavily edit the body for even the more basic poses. Really looking forward to more of these! RE: Mario XP - Mario in Castlevania - TomGuycott - 03-30-2015 This makes me warm and tingly and fills me with fan game ideas i'll never do. Same RE: Mario XP - Mario in Castlevania - DragonDePlatino - 03-30-2015 Don't be so hard on yourself! These are some pretty strong sprites. The damaged sprite looks a little cluttered, though. Why not try cleaning that up a bit? NES Classics - Style switch - NetNerdy - 03-30-2015 Working on a different concept, What if Konami made MegaMan? Check them out and give some tips to make it look better RE: MegaMan - Konami/Ultra Games style - DragonDePlatino - 03-30-2015 Hey, Net! It's nice to see you have more awesome art to show us, but you should keep everything in it's own topic to prevent flooding this forum. As for your sprites, are these edits or original work? If the latter, you did a fantastic job conveying realistic characters in such a small space! You should avoid breaking up your outlines like that, though. Those missing pixels on the top of Wily's head won't look that great on some brighter backgrounds. I wish I could give decent crit here but I'm just so mesmerized by how goofy this premise is, and how awesome the results turned out. Also I've been walking around my apartment for at least ten minutes saying "Megamontra" out loud upon seeing this and prior to posting. Even though it looks like you're going for a Castlevania look. Now I can't get "Megamontra" out of my head. Thanks. ): RE: MegaMan - Konami/Ultra Games style - NetNerdy - 03-30-2015 (03-30-2015, 08:26 PM)DragonDePlatino Wrote: Hey, Net! Alright, maybe if it's possible, change the Thread title to have all projects under one. Okay. And yes, the sprites are original from scratch, thank's for the tips. RE: Mario XP - Mario in Castlevania - Gors - 03-30-2015 I merged the threads in chronological order. you'll need to rename the thread again, but now it's all under the same link NES Classics - Style switch - NetNerdy - 03-30-2015 (03-30-2015, 11:37 PM)Gors Wrote: I merged the threads in chronological order. Thanks so much RE: NES Classics - Style switch - Kelvin - 03-31-2015 I think Roll kinda stands out too much. She is the only one with a black outline, and she uses 5 colors, while Dr. Light and Dr. Wily only use 4 and Megaman uses 3. Sure, it's possible to do on NES, but that's a rather large sprite just for a dress. The extra shade of red doesn't seem to have enough contrast, as well. Maybe something like one of these would fit better: Both have been reduced to 3 colors, and show with and without the dress highlights. Also, looking at that jumping frame of Megaman in the attachment, I think the darker blue looks better, but doesn't look too dark that it wouldn't work against a black background, which are very common in NES games, though Castlevania has a lot of dark blue skies, too, so it might help to just change the lighter blue to a cyan. RE: NES Classics - Style switch - NetNerdy - 03-31-2015 let's see, I'll try the alternate versions I have. I'm thinking for Roll, change the yellow to the pinkish color, see if it's good, and if the new Rock palette is better. There was as few alternative color palettes on the sheet. RE: NES Classics - Style switch - NetNerdy - 03-31-2015 here's a different sprite from the Mario hit RE: NES Classics - Style switch - Kelvin - 03-31-2015 That's an improvement on Roll. She's got her iconic pose, and she gets to have a detailed dress without adding any excess colors. The hair looks fine pink, so nothing's needed there. Nice fix on Wily's hair, too. As for Mario, I don't think that's the perspective Castlevania games usually use, but it still looks good. |
