As the series went on the "Some designs are complicated" dramatically increased while the "Some designs are simple" dramatically decreased. However the 5th generation fixes a lot of this. I think Gen 5 is the most balanced generation yet! RE: Pokemon Gen 3 - Underrated or Underappreciated? - Maxpphire - 03-17-2012 Honestly any complaint you have over one generation can technically be said for them all. Can we shut up now please? RE: Pokemon Gen 3 - Underrated or Underappreciated? - Koopaul - 03-17-2012 Honestly that's not true. I can't say one generation is better than any other. That has to do with tastes. But I can say that each generation has a certain feel or characteristics that the others don't. So you can't say they are all the same. Anyone can see that that designs had changed over the years, does that make them better or worse? No that is up to you. RE: Pokemon Gen 3 - Underrated or Underappreciated? - Maxpphire - 03-17-2012 No the generations are not all the same, the complaints made about certain generations can actually go for every generation. Not many people complain about things that are too specific. RE: Pokemon Gen 3 - Underrated or Underappreciated? - Koopaul - 03-17-2012 Yes of course you can pick out a few examples of a certain complaint in every generation. But its the complaint about a generation as a whole you see. When I say I don't like Generation 3 for its overly complex souless monsters, you can certainly find a few examples in the other generations. But because Gen 3 had the most of those, and was prominent in that complaint, that is why I am more forgiving to other generations. Yes there was complex Pokemon in Gen 1, but they weren't the norm, they were few and far between. Though I didn't like Sinnoh. It was dull and boring. And speaking of Gen 3... I think Swablu has a very solid design. Simple, brightly colored, charming. None of this world being threatened by god Pokemon. ..Or a super-bishie.. Or the madmen who went after said god pokemon.. ..Hold on, just realized nobody in any of the pokemon stories went after bleedin' Arceus. HE IS GOD in the pokemon games, and Pokemon like Kyogre and Articuno are his elemental minions and pokemon like Dialga are his elemental generals. While I still like what you have to say here, I don't understand why a design has to be simple for it to be good. I also suppose you weren't really insinuating this. Hi Koopaul RE: Pokemon Gen 3 - Underrated or Underappreciated? - Ton - 04-06-2012 I like a lot of the designs in gen 3. It's really the legendaries that keep getting more and more absurd with each game. If I could take a closer look, there might even be some artwork goofs in each gen! And if you look at one of Brendan's arms (Gen 3 guy protag) it seems to be a bit short compared to the bent arm, so yeah. There are flaws in the artwork too, like Gen 5's protags, their shoulders are a bit short for their arms. Gen 2's male protag's eyes are huge compared to the others. And yeah, there ARE flaws in the Gen 1 artwork, but we'll save that for another argument. RE: Pokemon Gen 3 - Underrated or Underappreciated? - Speed-X - 04-06-2012 Ruby and Sapphire fucking owned. It was a big revolution in the main series. Emerald was retarted though, imho. Ruby and Sapphire were better. Personally, I love the gen III Pokemon. Looking forward to the remakes. RE: Pokemon Gen 3 - Underrated or Underappreciated? - Gaia - 04-06-2012 While some say it was underraited.. Did you feel that the lady trainers of this gen/Gardevoir were exploited somewhat? RE: Pokemon Gen 3 - Underrated or Underappreciated? - Speed-X - 04-06-2012 Exploited? How so? |
