Alright looking back at it, Ridge's uhh... skeletor or whatever that is has some kind of annoying flaws. Mainly the hands and the swords. they don't seem to match up for me. It seems like he's barely holding the weapons, I'd recommend redoing the hands to make it fit more. The hair seems like a crappy copy paste job but I'm not familiar with the character so that could be how it really is.
Also, Is there like a size/ colour limit on the ML sprites?

with that kind of a defense i might as well call this off as a trace and look at ridge as a shitty spriter.
i dont care what the original graphics looked like, the hands look dumb and thats it.

Its definitely not traced i know you were kidding but his is completely different than the cortez art. The hands look tilted 3/4 when it should be like straight don't know how to explain but basically what shawn said it'll look 10 times better if you fix it.

I see what shawn means. The swrods all have that guard thing that separates the handle from the blade. When holding a sword, normally the hand goes up as close to that guard thing as possible. But Ridge sprited it so the hand is holding the handle lower down, which makes it seem like he's holding it loosely.

Cortez does in fact hold the weapons very loosely in the game. However I see what you mean and will consider making his grip tighter.
The feathers (not hair) were hard enough to get like that, it's not as easy as it looks. Not only is that how they look in Paper Mario 2, but I'm also fairly sure that's how they would look if he were actually in M&L3. I'm not going to make 1000 feathers because it's just not necessary. There are six different types of them as it is, and can you imagine how hard it'll be to animate that? Exactly. I'm not putting myself through hell.
As Star and I said, we've dropped deadlines at this point in time. From what he's told me Star is busy with school and such, which is why neither of us have posted anything as of late. (I'm waiting for him so he's not left behind.) We'll continue working with this until we feel that we have sufficient enough progress to judge.
Haha, Koopaul, I'll definitely be submitting this eventually. Put too much work into it to scrap. I'm sure Star probably plans on the same.

Two fantastic entries so far. But I must commend you in particular Ridge, that Cortez has such an offical feel that it stuns me to belive it was not ripped. Top notch work man.

They (the weapons) are held loosely in game because he's made of paper. Paper can't really have a tight grip on anything. And since you're spriting him as not-paper... yeah...

I'm loving these so far, guys. Personally, I like Smithy better because I've never seen a good Smithy sprite for any M&L game and I love seeing SMRPG being brought back to life like it's been. lol
But God Cortez is sick as hell though.
