RE: Assist Trophies and Pokemon - Kitsu - 11-08-2009 Maybe he could sniff out an invisible item box (actually just make the instance when he "finds" it, so you can't find it without him), and one of the players has to destroy it. This also provides an interesting twist after the player has already found the unique trophy: whenever Poochy appears on that stage again, the players could scramble to "unearth" the treasure first, and the one that does so gets a special bonus of some sort. RE: Assist Trophies and Pokemon - Ton - 11-08-2009 I think digging it up is a lot easier to pull off and requires less work on our part. RE: Assist Trophies and Pokemon - Kitsu - 11-09-2009 That really isn't any additional work at all. The code for such an event is easy, and it doesn't require any additional poses. It also solves the previous problem with the AT being useless after the first time he shows up. RE: Assist Trophies and Pokemon - Ton - 11-09-2009 Well after the first time he'd find something different, like you said. I just think digging it up is better, easier, and makes more sense than a hidden item box. RE: Assist Trophies and Pokemon - Kitsu - 11-09-2009 Well, it's not really a hidden item box... It's more like a small section that will break open when it's attacked. It could be a part of the map or even just a place to smack. Then the AT could also have an impact on the gameplay, as people are actively responding to its presence, rather than just being a Mew clone where people just go, "cool, look it's Mew. I already have all the trophies, so I don't really care." Just wondering, but is there some way to combine both ideas, rather than just picking one or the other? RE: Assist Trophies and Pokemon - Ton - 11-09-2009 What could he pluck after the trophies? RE: Assist Trophies and Pokemon - Kitsu - 11-09-2009 Smash balls (if we toggle them to appear less often...), some of the cooler items (if there are any)? Rare stuff that makes you uber-charged? I really don't know what else he could dig up. For my idea, I figured that the person who "unearthed" the treasure could get the same stuff you get from winning the Wario-Ware minigames, but slightly better. RE: Assist Trophies and Pokemon - Ton - 11-09-2009 That would be pretty cool. Can the player access the trophy without Poochy even if they know where to find it? I don't think that would be a good idea. RE: Assist Trophies and Pokemon - Kitsu - 11-09-2009 Well, the actual hiding spot would only be placed once Poochy "found" it. Kinda like Schrodinger's cat or something. Without Poochy, the hiding spot wouldn't actually exist, so you couldn't find anything even if you hit EVERY spot on the map. There's also a possibility that it could be timed, so if you take too long to get to Poochy and he vanishes, you'll have missed your opportunity. I'm not so sure about this one though; it could get frustrating, kinda like in Brawl when you see a CD, and you're all like, "SHINY STUFF! MUST GET!" but then you get KOed, and no one gets it, and then you're all like, "NOOOOOOO!!!" So yeah, I don't know about this one... RE: Assist Trophies and Pokemon - Ton - 11-09-2009 As long as it's a fair time limit, I think that's fine. RE: Assist Trophies and Pokemon - Ton - 11-10-2009 I mentioned it elsewhere, but what do you guys think of this?; Animal Buddy crates. They'd be like ATs or Pokemon, but they're animals from DKC. The dud could be enemies like in Melee. A crate spawns with a DK symbol on the side, you smash it, and it releases an animal buddy who attacks for you. Maybe it's too much, and I haven't thought of the attacks they could use, but it's an idea. RE: Assist Trophies and Pokemon - Kitsu - 11-10-2009 I dunno. They would be so much like ATs, they might as well just be ATs. They just don't seem to really need to be separate items. The reason pokeballs get to be in is because they are part of the main gameplay element of the pokemon series, while the animal buddies seem to be just side piece. I guess they could work, though, they're just a bit much like existing items. Maybe, instead of making a completely new item, you could have it work like the enemies from Melee, where they occasionally pop up from regular crates and barrels. Then the only problem could be figuring out who the buddy would ally with, but I guess that would just go with whoever broke it open. EDIT: Actually, now that I think about it, they really could just be new items. They could spawn the less important enemy and helper characters, like goombas, octoroks, and, of course, the animal buddies. ATs would then be made slightly more rare and would focus more on the more important characters from a lesser series. Of course, this'd mean that Lakitu, Hammer Brother, and Knuckle Joe would probably end up going to these new items, rather than ATs. It always seemed to me that random enemies in that would come out of crates occasionally appeared much too infrequently. RE: Assist Trophies and Pokemon - Alpha Six - 11-10-2009 These are all great ideas, guys. RE: Assist Trophies and Pokemon - AEM - 11-10-2009 Doc Louis? Doc appears appears next to who summoned him. He Eats His Chocolate Bar, Rip's off his Jacket, showing him wearing his cheetah Shirt. He's at Ganondorf's Speed. Very Powerful. He'll throw some punches and move around for a while AND THEN WHAM-O! Star Punch'd into oblivion. His Moves and looks could based off of here. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NIK-CsdPFjk |
