RE: Gaia's Sprite Thread - Alpha Six - 12-11-2010 Your shading methods are kind of ugly. It looks lopsided rather than smooth, and doesn't look metal, or even plastic, in the slightest. Yeah, I'm not really that good when spriting things that size, and more likely I am also used to spriting in already existing styles. I'll look for another method then. RE: Gaia's Sprite Thread - Gaia - 11-07-2011 Well, I'm posting this here for feedback. Fire away. RE: Gaia's Sprite Thread - Cobalt Blue - 11-07-2011 the readbility is awful. without zooming quite a few times its basically imposible to tell whats going on on that sprite(at first i though it was gors). you'd need to work a better palette, or if its a fixed one as it seems to be, work on a simpler desing. right now, all these dark desaturated colors are blending with each other making it imposible to determine each part of that character. as for now, i'd sugest using more saturation and less outlines. RE: Gaia's Sprite Thread - Gors - 11-08-2011 fffuuuu im not the only one then I was already dropping a 'thank you for the love' here ooopsie RE: Gaia's Sprite Thread - Gaia - 11-08-2011 Hmm.. I should re-work the design then. Drew the thing by hand. For shading, I may have to look at other SRPG sprites so I can have a look at -where- I goofed up. RE: Gaia's Sprite Thread - xJohnSpritePixFan91x - 11-08-2011 That Mega Guy/ or Robot he just created. Sofa look like a an old artwork box of Megaman 1. Hmm.. Cool It seem not bad. Similar to somewhere. I think you should make more stuff of like that. RE: Gaia's Sprite Thread - Gors - 11-08-2011 what anyway take more time on making small sprites readable, because the more small it is, the better the space management of the sprite will need to be. RE: Gaia's Sprite Thread - Gaia - 11-09-2011 mmmmkay.. Anyway, let's try this again. Redesigned the entire goblin, from scratch... I get the feeling I made it a little TOO small though. And then, for something completely diffrent. This was made a bit by accident when messing with the 8-bit style. RE: Gaia's Sprite Thread - Gaia - 11-11-2011 Obvious wip, I need some help as to work on the big guy's design/defining his lightsource. Large characters aren't exactly my strong suit.. RE: Gaia's Sprite Thread - Gaia - 11-27-2011 Awww fuck me. I'm posting a well-known video game character in a little known 8-bit style. Name of Style, which is basically what it says on the tin. EDIT: DAMN TSR needs a merge posts button. :X RE: Gaia's Sprite Thread - Gaia - 02-24-2012 Gonna need some crit here if I'd want to improve, plus I haven't touched this topic in years.. RE: Gaia's Sprite Thread - Shade - 02-24-2012 These look awesome! I think tails would break his neck trying to carry that head around though! RE: Gaia's Sprite Thread - StarSock64 - 02-24-2012 You have WAY too much clutter going on in there. You could probably throw out some shades and just you need to clean that up. You don't need to put shading in every spot possible. And you certainly don't have to put every shade in an area just to have them all included. Try to make your pixel clusters big and clean. Sonic's spikes need to be reworked. Have you tried flipping the image to get a fresh look? Tails' body is...well, it's kind of silly. I know he's shorter but you gotta give him some space for that body to be differentiated from his legs. It's not terribly important to make him that much shorter. Not a fan of how metal sonic's back spike kind of merges with his head Amy's head is kind of looking too wide Eggman's skin is sort of dark? I dunno. His white bands aren't white either. You might have trouble adding his arms since they're just an afterthought. I'm not sure how you'd fit them onto that body. It might not be a problem, I dunno. Espio's way more unsaturated than the others, it looks pretty odd RE: Gaia's Sprite Thread - Gaia - 02-24-2012 (02-24-2012, 10:03 PM)ShadeDBZ Wrote: These look awesome! Well, that's what happens when you try to stick to the origional character heights, hehe. |
