RE: Doodles and Finished Pieces. - Star - 04-10-2012 (04-10-2012, 06:16 AM)Gors Wrote: I'm going to be serious, though, star-broThank you for your feedback, Gors-bro(and being honest of course), and as well as everyone else's. The only thing I don't understand the problem with mine is the color. I made a print of it a while back(for a gallery I'm having), and the colors were pretty vivid imo. I can understand the "spirit" of mine lacking compared to the winner's. After all, it is just two crawfish slapped on a state. If I had more time, I would've done something more energetic and fancy, but I'll just get ready for next year. I hate to hear about what happened with your sister though.. ) : It sounded like a really innovative and creative idea and I hate to see such ideas lose to something so simple as a Parrot. I understand the concept of contests(strive more for the idea than what kind of techniques were used).. it's just the reason I kinda raged that this one won is well: 1. It looks very generic. If you've seen the past posters, it looks just about the same as past ones. Doesn't even look like he tried to be all that creative. 2. As others were saying, you can actually tell this did not take long to make as shown in how the buildings and the gradient backgrounds were made. I believe a person should have to work for something to gain it..but that's just me. 3. ...Crawfish boobies lol not really serious about this one but it's fun to poke at..if you catch my drift RE: Doodles and Finished Pieces. - TomGuycott - 04-10-2012 I can't remember if I posted these, but these are pictures I made for my VGR article last year that I didn't get cleaned up in time for the article itself. It was a Legend of Mana article, relating to the poor Golem AI (at least when you don't know what you're doing), the poking fun at Larc, and referencing the incredibly heavy concept of derelict toys with memories filled with war and terror. RE: Doodles and Finished Pieces. - Gors - 04-10-2012 yeah, I know all the circumstances while you were making this piece, heh I think that if there was a way to fuse both your entry and his (use his idea with your technique), then we'd have a real winner. Just pointless brainstorming, though, as the contest is already over. RE: Doodles and Finished Pieces. - Star - 04-10-2012 Silly me, you guys know the circumstances and everything with this piece since y'all saw each step of the way :B I am planning on doing something like that for next year, seeing as that's pretty much what they want composition wise(even if it is generic). Thank you guys once again on the feedback. AND NOW TO HARASS YOU GUYS FOR MORE: Which one is better, left or right? RE: Doodles and Finished Pieces. - Gwen - 04-10-2012 The right seems more vivid, so I'm going to say right, even though I'm a lefty. RE: Doodles and Finished Pieces. - Garamonde - 04-10-2012 RIGHT! RE: Doodles and Finished Pieces. - Gwen - 04-10-2012 Shitty paint sketch of my new character Gwen, the bionic laser handed face melter EDIT: yesss, she was inspired by my avi, but mang the idea is original I swear. RE: Doodles and Finished Pieces. - The KKM - 04-11-2012 Koopa, the right is more vivid, but the left reminds me more of a fish's scales, which is an original idea for a dragon? Dunno RE: Doodles and Finished Pieces. - Gors - 04-11-2012 i suck at sleeping RE: Doodles and Finished Pieces. - The KKM - 04-11-2012 Since my ref is a Doctor Who pastiche he needs a companion, so here is me shooting ideas RE: Doodles and Finished Pieces. - Garamonde - 04-11-2012 DW fans FTW! RE: Doodles and Finished Pieces. - TomGuycott - 04-11-2012 I've got some year-old stuff that I don't remember if I posted or not, so here they are. RE: Doodles and Finished Pieces. - Garamonde - 04-11-2012 (04-11-2012, 09:50 PM)TomGuycott Wrote: One of the characters is called Axle the Red That's the first thing that came to mind when I read that part. RE: Doodles and Finished Pieces. - Gors - 04-12-2012 her eyebrows are on top of the cap, and I know it's wrong. but not doing it made her look so empty so I added it anyway. RE: Doodles and Finished Pieces. - Gaia - 04-12-2012 Yeah, but it gives her a bit of more emotion than without the eyebrow placement. |
