Edit: Also guys, I think we can go ahead and move these to their respective threads. This one is starting to turn into The Smash Bros. Project 5.0.

I improved it.
Tell me if the face is better, and more important, in style.

did a very small edit to Luigi.

I was also very bored...(but I believe that the Yoshi Series needs a new character(s) *coughgetridofonedkcharactercough*)

To fat and tall I think.

Equally Fatter + Equally Taller = Proportionately Larger

I'm pretty sure Luigi is taller and skinnier.

RE: I hate to do a topic like this - Kirbyfan - 10-23-2009

I'm pretty sure that's a bad reference.

RE: I hate to do a topic like this - Mist th - 10-23-2009

Maybe but still I'm pretty sure I'm right.

RE: I hate to do a topic like this - Kirbyfan - 10-23-2009

This isn't a good quality example, but here's proportions.

Re-sized to make the button sizes match.

Hey guys, I'm trying to make a tutorial, but I don't know who to sprite in it. I want it to be someone fairly simple, but still shows off all the known style guidelines.

Anybody have any ideas?

Also, Luigi is indeed a bit plump, but he's still thinner than Mario.

Hm... I thought Yoshi was too upright. He needs to be slouching a little.

I would personally suggest working backwards from one that we already have made for the sake of the tutorial. But even then I don't think any of them are perfected yet anyways.

Yeah there's a lack of consistency that's yet to be discovered.

DO sonic. He would have to be the easiest in my eyes.
So are we going to restart the threads?

No, just post the stuff in the threads.

Also, I think I have the general guidelines behind the style about right.
+ Black outline around outside of sprite. Separated objects also have black outlines.
+ 3 shades maximum. An extra shade can be used if it is also used as a shade for other colors.
+ High saturation, usually above 200. Exceptions: grays and whites.
If you guys can think of any other "rules" for the style, please bring them up.
