RE: I love you all to death (Just so I can smash bros with you) (SSBWiiU/3DS) - Neweegee - 05-21-2014 That reminds me of the Master Hand glitch from Melee; it's almost exactly like that. With stuff like the GameCube Controller coming back, I could really imagine Nintendo doing that as a new feature and a bit of a shout-out to hardcore fans that remember the glitch. RE: I love you all to death (Just so I can smash bros with you) (SSBWiiU/3DS) - Iceman404 - 05-21-2014 Quote:<MrMystery> so here's a bingo sheet for nintendo's smash 4 tournament at E3: RE: I love you all to death (Just so I can smash bros with you) (SSBWiiU/3DS) - Omega - 05-21-2014 Oh we're doing Bingo cards? Cuz here's mine. I miiiight make a Smash centric one too, but I don't think there will be as much info as the direct had. RE: I love you all to death (Just so I can smash bros with you) (SSBWiiU/3DS) - Mystie - 05-21-2014 > Yarn Yoshi info > New Starfox game I highly doubt those. The controller shape is fine, but I don't get what gets everybody frothing over it.Here's a little thing I whipped up which I think explicates a couple reasons why some people prefer the GCN controller button placement for Smash: With that said... I don't see how you could possibly have any problems with the gamepad, it's bloody brilliant in it's design, and the pro controllers are ace as well. People who don't seem to like them seem to not be willing to take ten minutes to get used to a different styled controller in my experiences. Those who already tried to use the Classic Controller for Brawl but didn't make the switch from the GCN will most likely inherently have the exact same issues with the face buttons again on the WiiU controllers, since they're more or less the same design choices as on the Classic Controller. It's not an entirely unfounded rationale. RE: I love you all to death (Just so I can smash bros with you) (SSBWiiU/3DS) - Goombaking123 - 05-21-2014 Yarn Yoshi is still confirmed though, because at the Investor's Meeting, it showed Yarn Yoshi as TBA 2014 (along with SMTxFE), meaning it hasn't been cancelled. I'm pretty much expecting Yarn Yoshi at E3. Star Fox on the other hand is MUCH more unlikely though. And if you own or play Microsoft consoles as well then they're even better because it takes no adjusting almost from one to the other. Oh, I love the GamePad for most games. But, having used the 360 controller to play Smash 64, the diamond button layout doesn't work nearly as well with Smash Bros. as the... whatever GCN could be called.I call it the "Thumb" layout, because everything is designed around the curvature of the thumb. The buttons are far more accessible on the GCN layout than they are on the Gamepad one. RE: I love you all to death (Just so I can smash bros with you) (SSBWiiU/3DS) - Gwen - 05-21-2014 I keep my thumb on the A button(my thumb also overlaps the b button a little bit so I don't need to move it to press b.) and branch out from there whenever I need to and I do fantabulously gaming wise. Do people seriously do that needlessly painful a,b thumb thing? Do people seriously do that needlessly painful a,b thumb thing? I dunno, I just tried holding it the way you do and it still doesn't feel anywhere near as comfortable as thumb over Y, B. I think it has something to do with how the neutral position (AKA every muscle unclenched) of my hand (and I think most average-sized hands) lines up better with Y/ B, while B/A requires me to contract the muscles to bring my thumb and the rest of my hand closer together. To put it another way, Y/B feels like I'm just resting my hand, while B/A makes it feel like I'm gripping it tightly all the time. Maybe it's just because I've been playing games since the SNES and that's how most control setups were done in those days, but Y/B will always feel like where my thumb should be when I hold a controller for the first. "Press A to Jump" be damned. RE: I love you all to death (Just so I can smash bros with you) (SSBWiiU/3DS) - Gwen - 05-21-2014 As have I, I think it helps that I play my Xbox more often, so I'm really comfortable with the diamond pattern. RE: I love you all to death (Just so I can smash bros with you) (SSBWiiU/3DS) - Phantom Killah - 05-21-2014 I rest my thumb between the a and b buttons and tilt left or right to press b or a. (unless the game makes heavy use of all 4 buttons, then i rest my thumb overtop of all of them which also works well) very comfortable RE: I love you all to death (Just so I can smash bros with you) (SSBWiiU/3DS) - TomGuycott - 05-21-2014 Personally, I prefer the Y/B button combination, but I can adapt to whatever really. And if a game is uncomfortable for me, I just switch the button layout in the game options. Simple fix. RE: I love you all to death (Just so I can smash bros with you) (SSBWiiU/3DS) - Koopaul - 05-22-2014 Since I grew up with the NES, I'm mostly comfortable with my thumb jumping from B to A. RE: I love you all to death (Just so I can smash bros with you) (SSBWiiU/3DS) - Tellis - 05-22-2014 Actually, you know what my (kind of) beef is with the Gamecube controller thing? Why the hell does it plug into the Wiimote? Why not make a Gamecube controller that's a reskin of the Wii U Pro controller, aka doesn't need to plug in, syncs into the system as its own thing? Of course, I suppose this makes it compatible with the Wii, but I feel like that's something that Nintendo doesn't care that much about at this point... |
