I actually like the new drift system in 7. One of the standout features I think. Drifting in Mario Kart DS sucks now. Sad

Doesn't anyone actually play on the TSR Race community? i was on there earlier and there was nobody on the scoreboard or anything.

I'm still willing to go on it via tsr race granted I know other people are going to.

I set that up for the reason that people will actually play on it. but I am not sure how many people are aware that the community is set up.

(Current time note: I am on the community idling in the lobby as we speak. I can't do this all night so unless someone doesn't come on by 10 : 30pm eastern time I will most likely turn my 3ds off.)

(edit: oh come now don't tell me your mad that I'm beating you, person who was playing with me earlier.)

RE: Mario Kart 7 (because I care!) - Yo-Yo Boy - 12-28-2011

I know Koopaul mentioned this, but will there be a tSR tournament?

RE: Mario Kart 7 (because I care!) - DJane Coco - 12-28-2011

I find Mario Kart 7... good. The new courses appeared a bit plain to me and flying and diving isn't exactly brilliant to me. But meh, that's just my opinion.

RE: Mario Kart 7 (because I care!) - Alucard - 01-01-2012

Just finished getting the Gold Trophy in all races of the game including Mirror Mode. Overall I like this game, but I would rather play Mario Kart on TV so until the Wii U comes out, Mario Kart Wii remains my favorite. I am just getting started on playing MK7 online, seems the same as the Wii online which is fine with me.

I agree that this game did not have as many new courses that were memorable to me. Maybe they will after I keep playing them with the online play. I liked some of the choices for Retro Tracks and was glad they finally included a Rainbow Road in Retro Tracks.

RE: Mario Kart 7 (because I care!) - Koopaul - 01-01-2012

What? This game only had the best Rainbow Road out of any Mario Kart game. Also DK's course was awesome!

RE: Mario Kart 7 (because I care!) - DioShiba - 01-01-2012

In my opinion the only thing that killed this rainbow road for me was that it barely improved from the past rainbow raods.

yeah, scenery was nice to look at and all, but the fact you're going about the track and there's literally nothing but a two mile long path with barely any sort of obstacle to overcome was kind of boring even if it was for one lap.

SNES made it hard as balls to race on with other people
64 made it long as hell, had the chain chomps that would maul you if you hit them
GBA added shooting stars, jumps, and even lightning clouds that shrink you
GCN had that tube or whatever that made you fly upwards
DS had the loop and the corkscrew (Thus making it the only roller coaster RR, which was incredible)
Wii was like a remix of the past ones, yet it had some sort new touch to it that made it unique, oh yeah, forgot to bring up the fact you could do tricks, had that wavy part of the road, and you can burn up in the atmosphere when you fall off.

and what do we get for the 3ds?
one long fucking track with a planet that has chomps on them, and even those are pathetically easy to avoid it's not even funny. Lets ignore the whole glider thing because that barely has any relevance. Thank god it was only one lap because I would have hardly been able to bear it going around on it 3, bloody times. It has nothing new aside from those things.

this rainbow road was just weak. But hey, at least nintendo was smart enough to bring back the SNES rainbow road and actually keep it true to the original, with a new twist where you can trick hop off the road when the super thwomps smash down on the road.

RE: Mario Kart 7 (because I care!) - Alucard - 01-01-2012

I am not saying I dont dislike the new tracks in the game. Its just that when I think of Mario Kart Wii, there are so many tracks that stand out to me and I remember their layout, and often vote to race these when playing online. Tracks like Bowser's Castle, Coconut Mall, Maple Treeway, Mushroom Gorge, Rainbow Road, DK Summit, Wario's Gold Mine, etc.

Right now there are not a lot of tracks on MK7 that stand out to me as much as those did from the Wii. However now that I am getting into playing more against others online in MK7, I will probably start to enjoy some of the tracks more. This is what happened to me on Mario Kart Wii, I started to get good at Mushroom Gorge and Rainbow Road because everyone was always voting for those during online play.

I like how Nintendo brought back each of my favorite courses from the Wii version.

Me too, they picked most of my main favorites except Bowser's Castle. But I hope Bowser's Castle Wii track is on the Wii U Mario Kart game because I would rather play that track on TV instead of handheld.

I am really good at Bowser's Castle, Coconut Mall, and Maple Treeway on Mario Kart Wii.

Which retro tracks do you want in Mario Kart 8? - Alucard - 01-01-2012

I heard they are already working on the next Mario Kart game for the Wii U. Of course it wont be released for awhile, but I was wondering if anyone had a wish list for retro tracks that they want to see in the next Mario Kart game.

I love the retro tracks and am glad they keep doing this. There are a few that I hope are included in the next MK game:

Bowser's Castle (Wii)
Bowser's Castle (GCN)
Ghost Valley 1 (SNES)
Koopa Beach 1 (SNES)
Broken Pier (GBA)
DK Summit (Wii)

Also I noticed that almost every single Bowser Castle from GBA has been used as a retro track in the past 3 Mario Kart games. I would like to start seeing some of the SNES Bowser Castle tracks get used. Plus other SNES tracks like Vanilla Lake and Choco Island need to start popping up soon.

I can definitely foresee this thread going somewhere.

RE: Mario Kart 7 (because I care!) - X Gamer 66 - 01-02-2012

yeah the courses in MK7 are pretty disappointing overall. The new Rainbow Road is meh, most of the new courses are bland and forgettable (except the DK one and the new Bowser's Castle). Decent choices for the past courses, though.

RE: Which retro tracks do you want in Mario Kart 8? - Azure-Tranquility - 01-02-2012

More of a GameFAQs type of topic, but boy has this been spreading around.

Anyways, I've come to the conclusion that N64 Royal Raceway will probaly be the only N64 track, due to 7 having 3 N64 tracks. Meanwhile, there will be 2 GCN tracks again so that 64 & Double Dash can "catch up".

Obviously there will be 4 courses from both Wii & 7, 1 of each per cup, unless Mario Kart 8 decides to go for the 5 Cup format seen in Super Circuit.

Personally I think it'll go like this;

;Shell Cup;
DS Cheep Cheep Beach
SNES Bowser Castle 1
3DS Shy Guy Bazaar
Wii Toad's Factory

;Banana Cup;
GBA Sunset Wilds
GCN Dry Dry Desert
3DS Music Park
Wii DK Summit

;Leaf Cup;
DS Tick-Tock Clock
N64 Royal Raceway
3DS Pirahna Plant Slide
Wii Daisy Circuit

;Lightning Cup;
GBA Bowser Castle 4
GCN Wario Coliseum
3DS Neo Bowser City
Wii Grumble Volcano
