RE: Paper Mario animations - iyenal - 05-17-2016 The sprites are vectors ? RE: Paper Mario animations - E-Man - 05-18-2016 Yes, the sprites are vectors. They're pretty handy since I can easily change things around if needed compared to raster images. By the way, before I move onto today's progress, I got something Evil Yoshi Toes has to say. "About Goombario: I dunno, I didn't really notice a problem with the normal goombas. Maybe it has to do with the fact that Goombario's hat covers the thin part of the head outline, leaving only the thick part visible. "About Peach: I think the form fitting one might be a better option, however perhaps her chest should be slightly smaller... or not, it looks good either way. "EDIT: Actually, maybe curving her breast down slightly more would help. Like, curving the bottom of it slightly (maybe adding one more bend in the line), and bringing the pointed out part you already have down a very very tiny bit." In regards to that last bit of critique, does it mean that I'll have the change her actual chest instead of just the dress itself? Are the feet good now, 11th? I made a few concepts for the arm concealed by the body when Mario has his back facing at an angle. Which one will work? RE: Paper Mario animations - miyabi95_ - 05-18-2016 This is looking great so far! I love your unique take on the character designs! RE: Paper Mario animations - 11th - 05-18-2016 Yeah, that feels better. It matches how you have it for the other character's now, too. Like goomba To me, it's actually a solid attempt, so good on you! I can't wait to see what else you cook up! Now then, while I was waiting for additional feedback for the work I've done so far, I made a little more progress on everything I'm able to work on without going too ahead of myself. Besides adding textures, I also cut this guy in half to change the bottom part of his sheet when needed. Also, I'm trying to decide if I should make the foot that is mostly concealed by the sheet darker or not. I still can't decode which mouth to use for Goombario, but I made his teeth anyway. Besides creating Goompapa's angry eyebrows, I also made the back pose for the Goomba. By the way, should I make their feet positions more like Mario's (as in one foot is at an angle instead of bot of them facing the same general direction)? Finally, I worked a little more on Kent C. Koopa. As long as the newly created parts and "sketches" are good, I'll move onto additional parts. RE: Paper Mario animations - iyenal - 05-24-2016 Goombas are very good ! Oh, what I mean by "solid attempt" is that you did a good job. Anyway, I'm curious to see how Mario will turn out since he's more complex than a Goomba. Speaking of Goombas, I created more parts for those guys. Also, I found that the feet look a little off to me, so I played around with some new sketches. What do you think? By the way, Evil Yoshi Toes over on MFGG had the same hunch regarding the feet (mostly the feet for the back angle, though), so I was more inclined to work on that as a result. Also, Evil Yoshi Toes said that he liked the concealed foot of the Big Lantern Ghost to be dark. RE: Paper Mario animations - E-Man - 05-26-2016 I was going to post this update last night, but it was hardly finished and it was getting late. RE: Paper Mario animations - E-Man - 05-26-2016 By the way, what application do you model with? If it's Maya, then it'll be easier for you to help me in the modeling department. Anyway, I made this update today. I "sketched" out additional arms, created an off state for the lantern (there are three shine styles to choose from and I sketched out a possible crack), made an alternate position for the bottom part of the sheet, and worked on the blinking. How did I do? RE: Paper Mario animations - E-Man - 05-27-2016 I heard of it, but I have yet to try it. Is it compatible with Maya, though? I drew up Kent C. Koopa's head and front arm. Don't worry, Hiyna, I haven't forgotten to give him T-Rex arms. It's just that I'll make them after the default arms are finalized. By the way, I can't put my figure on it, but I think the size and/or the position of the head needs altering. RE: Paper Mario animations - E-Man - 05-27-2016 So, two users over on Starman.net mentioned that they liked the first design for the lantern the best. As a result, I'm thinking of using that one. Also, one of the two users and Evil Yoshi Toes on MFGG suggested that I make Kent's head smaller and move it around. I also made a new arm for Mario. Since I'm still uncertain about which part variations to use for other characters, I may have to just take matters into my own hands and pick something (i.e. not change Mario's outline based on the green lines). I hope that won't be that much of a problem. RE: Paper Mario animations - E-Man - 05-29-2016 Maya could also use OBJ files, so that's another thing to consider. In any case, you're free to send me files of various formats to see which works. Personally, if you could export them as either MA or MB files, that'll work just nicely. As for piracy, I'm not an expert on law, but it is something that's frowned upon. Still, I don't recall any cases where someone is sued for something like pirating a copy of Photoshop, so I don't know what to really tell you. One factor that plays into this is that you're technically not stealing anything in regards to piracy. If anything, you're just making an unauthorized copy of an existing product. If you want to know more, I'd suggest you either do a web search or look up videos regarding the subject on YouTube. Now, I made just a tiny bit more progress on this chestnut. I didn't do much besides make a happy variation of the mouth, the remaining eyelids for this angle, and the eyebrows and palette for the Lonely Goomba. As always I'm looking for suggestions for alterations of my work. By the way, I don't know if I mentioned it, but I'm taking character suggestions. If you have a character you want to see recreated in my own brand of papery goodness, I'll see if I can arrange it! Right now, I have a dapper destroyer of dimensions in my queue. RE: Paper Mario animations - DarkGrievous7145 - 05-29-2016 still looking good. um, are there any specific limitations with characters, there? All you really said is you're taking suggestions. RE: Paper Mario animations - E-Man - 05-29-2016 I'm mostly looking of video game characters, so there's that. Also, I don't want to do a character like Master Chief or a certain animatronic bear and his crew. RE: Paper Mario animations - Fawfulthegreat64 - 05-29-2016 Could you do Fawful and Dimentio? I've been lurking in this thread for a while btw. These are amazing! |
