RE: Bowser Ball (WIP) - Gors - 12-21-2009

...maybe jumpy wasn't the right word...

I meant that those orange circles aren't moving right.

I made a sketch of the ball: the left is correct and the right is wrong. The circles on the left ball move in a slight curve fashion. The right one, though, is irregular.

Your animation, unfortunately, is like the second ball. I'm afraid it'll take a lot of work to fix it though...

RE: Bowser Ball (WIP) - Neslug - 12-21-2009

If I change it they'll be aligned straight because it's a one pixel difference and near impossible to represent the first ball at such a small size. And no I'm not going to use subpixeling this time, would unnecessarily up the colour count.

Now, don't take this the wrong way. I can see it too but I don't think it can be fixed. And if it can, I don't know the best possible way.

RE: Bowser Ball (WIP) - Gors - 12-21-2009

Okay. Do it as you please. I don't think I'd fix it if I were you too, that's a complex animation :o

RE: Bowser Ball (WIP) - Neslug - 12-21-2009

That's the easiest part. I'd totally do it if I knew a good way to make the movement smoother without subpixeling.

RE: Bowser Ball (WIP) - Gors - 12-21-2009

hmm... I think that is possible.

all you need is to fix those [Image: imagemoo.png] parts, since the middle part is ok.

RE: Bowser Ball (WIP) - Neslug - 12-21-2009

Okay I'll try moving the spikes on the top part one pixel to the sides earlier in the animation so it doesn't look as...jumpy.

RE: Bowser Ball (WIP) - Neslug - 12-22-2009

Sorry for the double post, but it's an update. And I think it looks less jumpy.

RE: Bowser Ball (WIP) - Darking - 12-22-2009

Now is a lot better.

RE: Bowser Ball (WIP) - Neslug - 12-23-2009

So anyone got any last-minute crits before I move on to fixing the shading and thus finishing the ball animation?

that spike is still jumpy.

RE: Bowser Ball (WIP) - Baegal - 12-23-2009

are you gonna fix the shading on the spikes on the side?

RE: Bowser Ball (WIP) - Neslug - 12-23-2009

@Gorsal: If we're being picky, but I'll admit the top spike could use a bit more work still. Want to actually finish this thing this year.

@Charlie: Yeah, I won't overlook it.

RE: Bowser Ball (WIP) - Jovian-12 - 12-23-2009

much better, methinks. I can't see any jerkiness anymore.

RE: Bowser Ball (WIP) - CeeY - 12-23-2009

I'm not liking how the light source shifts up and down. Otherwise, the animation is beautiful.

RE: Bowser Ball (WIP) - Davy Jones - 12-23-2009

The shadow is too abrupt, rest is beautiful.
