RE: *PLEASE READ* - Submissions Forums for beginners - Ultimecia - 07-10-2010 Other pro-tip: don't make polls unless necessary. To don't add a poll just leave the spaces in blank RE: *PLEASE READ* - Submissions Forums for beginners - Hstar - 07-11-2010 (07-10-2010, 04:54 PM)Ultimecia Wrote: Other pro-tip: don't make polls unless necessary. RE: *PLEASE READ* - Submissions Forums for beginners - Garamonde - 02-16-2011 Hi, I'm new here and I haven't posted my first sheet yet... I was wondering, do I have to use the icon maker program to make a sheet icon? Couldn't I just use Random Talking Bush's icon sheet and insert my own image (with the text and etc.) and upload that? I want to make my own icons but I'd rather not download a program and try to figure out how to use it if it wasn't completely necessary... Thx. MAJOR EDIT: Not that it matters now, but I edited this post to not include the huge guide reply. RE: *PLEASE READ* - Submissions Forums for beginners - A.J. Nitro - 02-16-2011 You don't have to download it. You can just try it once, and make icons the way you think works best for you. I have another question... I'm going to be submitting several sheets for a Japan-only GBA game called Bomberman Jetters - Densetsu no Bomberman that I ripped before I joined TSR as soon as I can, but I was just wondering... Ragey had already ripped one sheet for this game, the battle mode characters, but he titled it "Bomberman Jetters (GBA)", and the title I have (Bomberman Jetters - Densetsu no Bomberman) is the proper title... when I submit my sheets can one of the admins change the game title to the proper name? Thx. RE: *PLEASE READ* - Submissions Forums for beginners - Dazz - 02-17-2011 I'm afraid that we'll probably keep the shortened name since it's pretty much not going to get mixed up for a different game... If there were 4/5 Bomberman Jetters games, then sure, but as it stands, nobody will be confused. Okay then, that's fine, I just wondered. There is another GBA game by the title "Bomberman Jetters Game Collection" (under the title Bomberman Jetters Collection), though that game being under a different name, it's doing okay. So thx for the answer, and I'll be submitting my first sheet today! Such a friendly community on here. EDIT: Actually I looked again and the title for the game on the site is simply "Bomberman Jetters", and there is a GameCube/PSX game under the same title, but seeing as how no one is really going to be getting any of the few 2D graphics from a GCN game like that, there probably won't be much confusion I guess. RE: *PLEASE READ* - Submissions Forums for beginners - Garamonde - 02-17-2011 And before I submit my first sheet, I have one final question (for now)... Can a sheet icon have an image that is not content of the sheet itself? Like this example I made... See how I have one of Mighty's sprites on the front of the icon, but behind it, I used a wallpaper of the same character? I thought this looked awesome, but I wanted to ask first before I just went and submitted it (when it's finished). Thx. RE: *PLEASE READ* - Submissions Forums for beginners - A.J. Nitro - 02-17-2011 Usually it's best to only use a sprite on the icon that appears in the sheet, and not use official artwork. RE: *PLEASE READ* - Submissions Forums for beginners - Dazz - 02-18-2011 That's right - otherwise people think that there's something missing from the sheet. As much as it looks cool, it just makes it confusing if all our sheets were like that. RE: *PLEASE READ* - Submissions Forums for beginners - Garamonde - 04-15-2011 Please forgive my double posting + bump (this is a stickied thread anyway so I'm hoping this won't matter, please don't warn me >___<; ), but I've got another question... It says in the submitting rules: "Also, we would REALLY appreciate if you named your file names CORRECTLY to help us out. For a sheet; gamename-sheetcontent.png/gif For an icon; gamename-sheetcontent_icon.png/gif Example: chronotrigger-crono.png That would mean the sheet of Crono goes into the Square section, under the game Chrono Trigger." I didn't know this and I've always been naming my sheets simply by the name of the character/object like "Pichu", and the icons as "Pichu Icon" for example... has this made my submissions more difficult to upload? I name them those things for self-convenience, but... should I start doing that? It shouldn't matter as long as I tell you guys where they go, right? (Which I always do) I'm sorry if this is dumb I just want to make sure... RE: *PLEASE READ* - Submissions Forums for beginners - Yawackhary - 04-15-2011 It is mainly there to make it easier for the uploaders to upload it before uploading to the site I guess, I'm not sure to be honest. It seemed like a left over from the older system on the site where they had a Square section before deciding to change it into consoles. Some places rename the file to their own system like imgur, TinyPic and min.us anyway even if you followed that pattern so it can't be helped if you use them places to upload your sprites. Just providing where the game comes from and they go on your post when you submit is okay. RE: *PLEASE READ* - Submissions Forums for beginners - Random Talking Bush - 04-15-2011 Yeah, it's definitely a leftover from the old Fireball20xl-era Spriters Resource. Don't worry about it, as it's not really necessary anymore. RE: *PLEASE READ* - Submissions Forums for beginners - Garamonde - 04-15-2011 Yeah, I've recently started uploading to min.us and they rename them weirdly. I was slightly worried about that, so thanks for replying. EDIT: Oh, I just noticed your post, RTB. Thank you too. |
