I made some custom Mario and Luigi sprites. Super Mario World for body/size reference and MLSS for color reference. They are also my first custom sprites.

They are cool...
But Mario is really too fat! XD

I'll make him a bit thinner and upload them as soon as I can; but I just want to hear other people's opinions first. Smile

Bump and update:

Update includes side-by-side and height comparisons, extra Super Mario World based sprites (With and without the dot eyes) and a thinner Mario.

Bump agaaaaaain

Dude, you should be a bit more patient. You only waited like, 4 hours. Anyway, I'd say keep the
SMW colours. They look better in the way of contrast. Try showing some of Mario's chin under
the mustache.

I say try a complete new style, because this is probably going to get nowhere. There have been treads like this before, but none have lasted more then a week, and Im certain that this one is no difference, and the current style is boring and not new at all.

elaborate on your statement. i'd like to know why this is boring and not new at all. i dare you.

because i don't want to think you are making a comparision with iceman because that would be like making a comparision between two completely different issues that have nothing in common besides the fact that they both draw a mario sprite.

in wich case you'd be a fucking idiot.

Le Sigma: you mean as in puting them in the website

Okay, I'm sigging that, and it's supposed to be a collaborative effort. This means teamwork, not just sit around and criticise someone's first custom sprite while I wait patiently for the other team members to come up with something.

Oh, yes, and the two posts behind Francisco Cifuentes, if you don't like the sprites you're welcome to simply join the project yourself. Otherwise get out of the thread, and take your useless non-criticism out with you.
I looked at Iceman404's sprites.

...

Well. I see.

Anyway, what do you think of the sprites? If the project isn't successful I'll post the Mario/Luigi sprite sheets (which will be a lot bigger near the end) as a solo project. I'll probably just post them as one or two sheets in the "Custom/Edited" part of the site.

But I expect this project to go far. As long as you all contribute.

RE: Custom Mario Party Project - Cobalt Blue - 05-30-2010

hey hold your horses right there

you have a lot, a huge more work left to make even before considering this a project to be joined. the sprites you've got right now are the most simple, basic ones, so i'd just work on them and post the progress as you sprite the rest of what is left. even if no one gives a damn about your sprite project.

although

not being fond of your sprites doesnt mean one is not allowed to post in this fucking thread. reason is simple: you want all the feedback youc an get on your work, yet its up to you to filter what is actually feedback from just people's personal opinions. what i criticize on dave is that he's just as redundant in everything he says he might not try to pass it as critique when he's not even able to justify his statement, specially when he suggest scrapping what has been done. any comment or opinion you get should be considered, but it will require you to be actually a step ahead and reason why people might not like what you've done. self-criticism is part of your work too. posting just to get praised wont get you anywhere.

also, being your frist customs doesnt justify anything at all so i'd just shut the fuck on that part.

RE: Custom Mario Party Project - Super Mario - 05-30-2010

Actually I only said they were my first ones because I knew that if people thought I had experience, they would ask for requests.

In a more simple way, if I never said anything about my talent/experience and posted a good sprite people would ask me for more and get mad at me if they weren't as good as the ones they took as an example.

Now I don't even know what the fuck I'm saying. I need an expert to help me elaborate collaborate.

RE: Custom Mario Party Project - Dave - 05-30-2010

What I meant to say in my post was that the customs werent that good, and if you guys cant take critisism like it is, then you are a fucking idiot as well. And if you want me to join this, then yes I will join, and not for your childish dare, to show you that this thread can go better

I think the problem here is that I CAN take criticism, but I just can't DETECT it. Meaning I accept criticism but I can't find what's criticism or not. Blank

Well, sure I want you to join, the more the merrier, and I couldn't possibly think of doing all this myself.

*Sigh* There's only so much a girl can do...

RE: Custom Mario Party Project - CeeY - 05-31-2010

Get rid of the black outlines inside of the sprite.

RE: Custom Mario Party Project - Super Mario - 05-31-2010

About the project...

I'm thinking we need character sprites...
