the head is fine. what you should consider is either making the tail smaller and more muscular(so he would actually have the muscles to flap it around like a cat) or just make it bigger and just carry it on the ground. in any case, it needs to be more rounded and natural.

as for the scales, the game's name was Dinos For Hire. that should give you an idea on how to make those scales,.

His face should look alright once I apply the shading, but I'll make some tweaks and see how it ends up.
Lets talk about those feet.

The original character has large feet.
More accurately, long toes.
The toes are long to help him keep his footing on different surfaces, and allow him to run across bodies of water (because he's a basilisk and they do that.)

The actual species he's based on (B. Basiliscus) also has large hind feet.

So I think I'll keep bigfoot in there.

Actually sprited all the parts onto the body in different colors so I'd know what was what while working on him. Sort of a color coded body system I've always used. Proportions will be fixed in later stages.

What comes to mind when you say muscular tail is this

I don't exactly like this general tail design. :c
Should I just make the tail fatter to counter it's length?

You gotta make it progressively thin. The edge of the tail there ends in a pointy blob form.

Well, his toes are too fat is what I meant. Length-wise, they're fine.

RE: lizard and a shoggoth - Cobalt Blue - 05-31-2010

well the whole purpose of having a tail is to keep his balance, isnt it?

also, regarding the feet, i think you should work more on a velociraptor/bird kind of feet. i dont believe you can translate the legs and feet of the basilisk into a bipedal desing without sacrfy too much of the original concept.

Good point, fransisco.
So something like this.(without the killer nail.)

RE: lizard and a shoggoth - Gollum - 06-01-2010

i'll see if I can incorporate thinner toes, but I'm not keen on bird feet.
Or death claws.
Not to mention that would be outrageously difficult for me to sprite.

RE: lizard and a shoggoth - Gollum - 06-01-2010

Tinkered with tail and toes.

What now?

RE: lizard and a shoggoth - Lexou Duck - 06-02-2010

Better.

RE: lizard and a shoggoth - Gollum - 06-05-2010

Come on, guys
I still need some help with this.
Don't leave me here
Alone

RE: lizard and a shoggoth - Cobalt Blue - 06-05-2010

its a lizardman attached to a tail, right now. i know its not meant to be realistic, but at least try to put some more credible proportions.
