You're still going to have to reshade it now though. It's placed Dark Red in some rather odd places. The lines for the inside of the hood could do with some smoothing, too.

i dont fully understand what the hell is going on on his face. unless he has no neck or his whole fave is coming out of a giant tentacle, it makes no sense at all the way its drawn now.

I'm not even sure of what your saying.

It started like this.

And if you're talking about the skin tone under the face,

RE: Ezio - (Shading issues) - Cobalt Blue - 07-02-2010

do you understand that picture, at all?

are you aware that below that hood there's a human head wich is made of a human skull with has its own mass and volume, and that the shadow only covers half of his face because the has a chin that is not covered by the tip of the hood.

What I got out of you is:

-Has/Hasn't got a neck
+I showed you the basic anatomy showing that there isn't one.

-Face coming out of a tentacle
+I thought the tentacle you were talking about was the skin under the face. So I posted the ref to show you what it was.

-The character of the ref has a human head with skull, mass etc.
+It's a circle head. There isn't a shred of exact human anatomy. I can chisel a face out of it to see if that fixes it.

-The head shading makes it look wrong
+'Tis why I asked about fixing it.

-The chin is not covered by the tip of the hood

[Image: ezioside.png]Since I myself don't have AC2 on the PC, I can't get you a good screenshot showing the hood, but this should work. The tip does cover the entire face.
See, I'm not quite sure why the shading makes it look like the chin sticks out farther than the hood, but I'm guessing the light source is in front of the character in the ref.

thats what he's talking about
your anatomy is all kinds of fucked up

even for a somewhat """cartoony""" style like this, you'll benefit from studying the human anatomy a bit more

RE: Ezio - (Shading issues) - Cobalt Blue - 07-03-2010

i kinda worded that wrong. its not like the tip of the hood doesnt cover the chin, is that the lightsource is always placed so it would cover the top of the head.

but the sprite you have has no neck at all, since the chin is literally conected to his torax giving the impresion that he has no heck at all. now, i know the effect of his face being half covered by the shadows is caused due his head being tilted foward, but in your sprite there is no neck at all, the head was rotated over its own axis instead of rotating from the point where it connects with the neck, hence why when looking at it it looks as if the face was an extension of the chest. the chin casts a shadow over the chest, just like the hood's tip cast a shadow over the face.

This look better?

No. Show us your base and from that we'll be able to crit you better.

I used that first pic to do that, I hope it gives you an insight as to what to do!

This everything I've done.

RE: Ezio - (Shading issues) - Chris2Balls [:B] - 07-03-2010

I've tried shading it so it gives a better idea:
It's a bit sloppy because I did it quickly, but I was thinking mostly of the neck, the face and less of the outline/selout/shading on the hood.

come on, the head is now coming out of his right shoulder :V. all you have to do is make it come out of the center.
