Yeah, I know. That's why I worked on that one first I guess I still need more movement, I'll look at some martial arts videos for reference.

RE: Project Null Enemy Sprite - Mabelma - 07-28-2010

Added some more frames and motion to the slash attack, any better?

RE: Project Null Enemy Sprite - triptych - 07-28-2010

you're still not adding enough emphasis to the attack

it honestly looks like he's just stomping and like
waving a flag or something i cant even tell

RE: Project Null Enemy Sprite - Mabelma - 07-28-2010

Oh ok. Would eliminating the stomp and going farther back with the spear help in any way?

RE: Project Null Enemy Sprite - triptych - 07-28-2010

I actually started on an edit because I really don't know how to explain it any better. The stomp could actually really help if it was used better, the biggest problem right now is just the lack of body movement

RE: Project Null Enemy Sprite - Chris2Balls [:B] - 07-28-2010

make him move a step forward when he uses his club, like he's got to make a full body movement for more power in the hit.

RE: Project Null Enemy Sprite - Mabelma - 07-28-2010

Looking forward to the edit in so many ways, Also in the meantime I think this helps accentuate the attack movement.

I have no clue on how to do that, could you show me some kind of example?

RE: Project Null Enemy Sprite - X Gamer 66 - 07-28-2010

Well you need his body to move somehow. have him lean his body/head back or twist or something. Same with the thrust, have him pull back and twist his body before he thrusts. It adds power to the attack.

And yeah the old colors really are putrid. You can make them dark and danky without being bland and dull to still get the "swamp" feel.

this actually might not be a good idea, since I assume the green thing is a sluggish brute. Make sure you consider that its attacks wouldn't be as defined and technical as a martial artist's

RE: Project Null Enemy Sprite - Mabelma - 07-28-2010

Are the new colors any better? I'm working on the movement of the body, thanks for the C+C.

RE: Project Null Enemy Sprite - triptych - 07-28-2010

This is what I meant by movement

he's holding what I assume is a fairly heavy weapon, why is he just waving it around effortlessly? His body should struggle to lift this thing up and move accordingly
the legs are kind of jumpy but those aren't really what I was focusing on so

RE: Project Null Enemy Sprite - Mabelma - 07-28-2010

Thanks so much. It helps lots, I'll try to improve mine.

Here's what I had before seeing yours.
Using 1up's as a standing point, I fixed a few things. Yeah, it's an edit from an edit and yeah that's wrong to do but it actually helps me understand a few things, I'm going to post it to ask one questions, does it still look ok with the things I added and took away? I took away a few frames and added the actual spear but does it still work? I'm going to redo mine again but with like the things I learn from this one.

RE: Project Null Enemy Sprite - triptych - 07-28-2010

it looks way too jumpy immediately before and after the strike, you're making the weapon look weightless again

RE: Project Null Enemy Sprite - Mabelma - 07-28-2010

Oh ok, so it definetly need those frames, thanks. Tomorrow I'll get back to it but actually using yours as reference instead of an edit.

RE: Project Null Enemy Sprite - Cobalt Blue - 07-29-2010

protip: mimic the movement by yourselrf and see how your body reacts and works to make it.

RE: Project Null Enemy Sprite - Chris2Balls [:B] - 07-29-2010

here's my stab at the animation:
