The most recent instance I can think of is GTA 4; and that wasn't for fanservice.

GTA lost and damned has full frontal nudity on one guy before you start a mission. However, that isn't really anything bad compared to sexual contact scenes.

just to say that more decelopers seem to be putting in more nudity nowadays, but it's usually only tits. Dicks in some cases like what I just said.

That's just because the medium is trying to mature from a storytelling angle; but they're still playing it pretty safe. Sexual stuff is either obscured or implied, or what have you.

Edit: Whatever, maybe time for some gameplay speculation? Since it's related to the persona seres, I'm expecting a balance of Visual Novel-style interaction and romancing, coupled with legitimately difficult dungeon exploration. Since the trailer says "Every night, nightmares", I'm wagering the game's action/dungeon segments are during dreams; which have been induced by Catherine; probably to keep the protag under her thumb. Maybe it starts involving people the protag knows, so he gets to the bottom of their lives to help him in the dream.

No idea where the murders fit in, though. I doubt the game is blazé enough to make Catherine the murderer.

red dead has a full on sex scene and you murder people in the face with a gun multiple times in several cutscenes and it's rated M, why would this game EVER need an AO rating?

Oh hey look - monsters.
Legitimately scary ones, too.

uhh not to be all "what are you guys talking about these aren't scary" but

what are you guys talking about these aren't scary

Compared to the direction of the other resent console SMT games (which are still quite dark in tone), these monsters are a hell of a lot more gruesome.

RE: Catherine, a spin-off of the Persona series - DioShiba - 09-15-2010

just because they're gruesome in appearance won't make them scary alone, you know. It also depends on how they're used.

I enjoy the fact that this isn't entirely a suggestive porn game though, because that would have been lame.

RE: Catherine, a spin-off of the Persona series - Helmo - 09-15-2010

I wish I played darker games, Silent Hill looks cool maybe I'll try that. But back on topic what is so great about Persona anyways

RE: Catherine, a spin-off of the Persona series - GrooveMan.exe - 09-15-2010

They're extremely solid RPGs - character driven instead of entirely monster-driven as with other SMT games.
The Persona series specifically has a partial gameplay focus on ingame social interaction; although only Persona 3 and 4 have dating sim aspects.

TBH, it breaks up the grind; though I wouldn't like the game for the slice-of-life bits alone.

Bumping this to say the game is officially coming to the United states, not sure about the European countries though..
