They're not bad at all, you just need to dither less, use more solid colour. The worst cases are on the two last Pokémon, the last one looks flat. All of the outlines are jagged. I hope you make these better! Smile

here's my attempt at your tsutarja:
final is farthest right. first of all i did a gold version to practice, refined the shapes, then i messed around with the colours for doing it gold style but with a black/white lightsource, swapped the yellow for another yellow from the gold palette. i hope it helps you!

RE: maarten sprites the return - maarten - 11-03-2010

okay thank you chris2balls yes that are the hardesst things with me okay on the battle screen is it the old tsutarja but my battle screen is perfect to make the battle screen from black white in gold silver how you like it

RE: maarten sprites the return - Chris2Balls [:B] - 11-03-2010

the buttons aren't good at all, they don't look appropriate for a game boy colour game, the grids are uneven and the font isn't suited to them.

oh
and i had some doubts so i checked some b/w sprites
and you lied, there are at least two of your sprites which are recolours: no.2 and no.3 definitely are, the rest are probably other sprites that have been resized then drawn over. you won't go very far for making edits and lying to people on this board, have a warn.

RE: maarten sprites the return - maarten - 11-03-2010

RE: maarten sprites the return - Gors - 11-03-2010

saying that the sprites are difficult to make isn't an excuse to make shit work

also god, learn to type in English coherently before joining an English-talking forum

RE: maarten sprites the return - maarten - 11-03-2010

read page 1 yes my sprites are shit work but im very bad on making an sprite very excellent i am very hard with poses and shading

RE: maarten sprites the return - Iceman404 - 11-03-2010

We don't care if its hard, we all sprite too so stop using that as an excuse.
Anyways, you need to dither much less, and fix those jagged lines on the pokemon above. And some of your dither shades are at complete 45 degree angles, round em' out.

You'll notice that between the two, the GSC Machoke is far better defined, and stays more true to the sugomori art. It's still quite cartoony, but less so than the RBY sprite. It also has a bit more dithering and proper shading.

You gotta shape those up properly. The water starter should have pretty much a perfectly round head. It sorta does something weird in the back of the head.

RE: maarten sprites the return - maarten - 11-04-2010

but why should you not sprites from another games styles as pokemon mario zelda and I do not know what do because there are a lot of people in this forum that such sprites but also neslug wes and much more There are also sprite project s with this styles what I made

RE: maarten sprites the return - Chris2Balls [:B] - 11-04-2010

You can, but you don't take existing sprites. You can sprite existing concepts/characters/whatever from scratch all you like. This has been said over and over again. Also other members in the GSC Devamp Project make sprites from scratch. Oh wait- there are others who are editing. I take that back.
I hope your next sprites will be truly custom!
