RE: Virtual Console or Original? - Cobalt Blue - 02-23-2011 we grown attached to the old catridges. they're pretty iconic for their desing and for what they represented in our childhood. as soona s we moved into the CD era, we ceased to be that attached to the physical copues of games, and piracy just made having 50+ games as easy as simply making 3 clicks and a captcha code. i do kepty though my original copy of the demo disck that came on my dreamcast as well with its web browser on its original case. same with the NES games i still own and the Sub-Terrania catridge wich is the last remainning piece i have from my old genesis. i dont see myself giving a fuck about owning a physical copy of tf2 or even a DS flashcart. RE: Virtual Console or Original? - PrettyNier - 02-23-2011 games are designed with a specific controller in mind it also feels nicer i like playing old games on hdtvs. Quote:we grown attached to the old catridges. they're pretty iconic for their desing and for what they represented in our childhood.your own personal sense of nostalgia =/= everyones sense of nostalgia RE: Virtual Console or Original? - Vipershark - 02-23-2011 For me, it does. Nothing beats the feeling of putting a cartridge into your system. While I disagree that all of that feeling is lost on disk-based games, I do agree that the warm fuzzy feeling is definitely lowered. But digital distribution. Fuck that guy. It's kind of unsettling to know how mainstream emulations are. I would say that anyway; whether emulation existed or not. If I heard a great song on the radio, and it was by a lesser-known artist; damn straight I'd look into getting a copy. In a way I helped contribute to the success of Lupe Fiasco. The same is true of games. I went to a History of Video Games exhibition when I was a kid, and you could play Sonic Adventure 2. I fell entirely in love with City Escape, and got the PAL copy on release day. RE: Virtual Console or Original? - Cobalt Blue - 02-23-2011 funny how the only way i could get Tron Legacy's soundtrack, despite all my efforts to buy the deluxe pack legally, were completely blow away by the distributor not giving a fuck about my region. distribution in south america is virtually non existant, save for some mainstream games(yet still is imposible to find a copy of lets say, mario kart double dash). there is literally no store where you can buy old games, nor trade them(besides internet ebay-like sites). and still in these days importing stuff from the US is not something everyone can afford to do- RE: Virtual Console or Original? - DioShiba - 02-23-2011 (02-22-2011, 11:31 PM)Koopaul Wrote: As for me: as long as its legitimate I don't really care. My NES broke down years ago, its great to be able to play all my favorite games again on the VC. Another thing I like about digital distribution: If your NES brakes down and you don't want to bother buying some cheap system like retro duo or whatever, you can go on VC and get the games. I personally couldn't care about the controller as long as it can be used comfortably, hell this is why I prefer the classic or gamecube controller over the N64 or SNES. And I certainly don't mind the lack of cartridges. To me, as long as there is a controller, it's the real deal. RE: Virtual Console or Original? - ~DrakoRero~ - 02-23-2011 That's true but, a lot of games I have for my NES and other systems are not on VC, like TMNT 2 The Arcade Game, Ms.Pacman NES , Captain Skyhawk, and others. RE: Virtual Console or Original? - Shadowth117 - 02-23-2011 Honestly, most people complain about not having the original controllers feel more than anything else whenever I've asked someone about emulation vs the real deal. The fact that you can buy almost any game console controller or at least a converter for them for the PC completely kills that argument though. For me, while I will admit I don't own every game I've ever emulated I do own many a bunch of them which doesn't make me feel much guilt about it. Not to mention having the ability to play N64 or PS2 games at a much higher resolution than they were ever able to be played at on the original console is always a plus.
