RE: 'ave some sprites - Strasteo - 08-17-2011 's been a while since I had some time to myself to pixel. These are both props for my game in development. They will be 2x in-game, as they are a bit small right now. C&C would be most appreciated, ladies and fellas alike. - ^This is the save point that you'll encounter throughout the game. The flames light up once the game is saved. - ^And this... is a tree. Yep. I haven't posted these anywhere else save for my game-making partner-in-crime to see. I may post the main character when we're further along in development and can afford to show more. RE: 'ave some sprites - x0_000 - 08-17-2011 What exactly are the two things on top of the save point? They vaguely look like wings to me, but the shading makes me think more of an egg cracking in two. RE: 'ave some sprites - Strasteo - 08-17-2011 They are indeed supposed to be wings. I'm having a bit of trouble getting that to look right, now that you pointed out the 'egg' resemblance. Could you give me some suggestions on how to make it seem more like wings? I wanted the wings to kind of arc around the angel however; like it's covering/sheltering it. RE: 'ave some sprites - x0_000 - 08-17-2011 A quick edit, you should focus on making the feathers more feather-like, as they would have a elongated shape; Also give a sense of texture to the wings instead of having the curved shape confine the feathers. The other thing is, if the wings protect the statue, then the part that would be the closest to the viewer (hence benefit from more lighting) would be the ends of the wings. Here's some extra references to try out. http://www.pasttensecountry.com/catalog/43224%20Great%20Wing.jpg http://www.eastden.com/39835.jpg RE: 'ave some sprites - Strasteo - 08-17-2011 Thanks for the crit and reference pics, x0_000. They came in handy! Added feathers to this newer version, at any rate. I'll have to thin them out some and angle it so the wings are more curved however, so it's not finished just yet. Edit: I think I'm getting there... (This was made from scratch, so it's essentially a different version) RE: 'ave some sprites - x0_000 - 08-17-2011 Looks great so far! The pointy ends do clash with the style you've established for the feathers, so make sure you mess around with that. Have you also tried playing around with the height? I noticed now that the wings seem to sprout from the head instead of the back. RE: 'ave some sprites - Strasteo - 08-17-2011 Yeah, I think I got carried away with the blending there, so it seems like the wings are sprouting from the head, heh. I made another revision with your additional crits in mind; I think this is the best one, maybe final. I may add some decoration later though like vines and moss for certain zones in the game. RE: 'ave some sprites - Glitch - 08-17-2011 The wings still look like they're coming out of the head. :/ RE: 'ave some sprites - Gors - 08-17-2011 which, I think, doesn't sound that bad imo RE: 'ave some sprites - Strasteo - 08-17-2011 @Glitch: Mm, yeah I see what you mean. I guess it's fitting though for the sheltering of the body I was looking for. @Gors: Glad to hear! |
