RE: Crappy Mario Needs Help - Shouty - 12-05-2011 I never thought there was anything wrong with the initial sprite, aside from the position of the head. Even after editing other stuff, like the eyes, shoes, etc., Mario looks like he's tensely leaning back, which is what gives it that stiff look. Move his head forward for a more relaxed disposition. RE: Crappy Mario Needs Help - Niblesess - 12-06-2011 I think the problem is with their arms, they're too far back like they're trying to run like ninjas which makes them seem as if they are being told by their mother to "sit up straight" making them look awkward and uncomfortable. I second the head on Mario being too far back and also Peach doesn't seem to be facing the same directions as the other 3 characters, she's facing more to the front but I don't know if that's me being nit-picky or what. RE: Crappy Mario Needs Help - Koopaul - 12-06-2011 No your right right I'll try to fix them when I can. RE: Crappy Mario Needs Help - Ninspriterx - 12-10-2011 I would say give Luigi more of a forward/hunched-over posture to contrast from Mario's stance, and for peach to lower her shoulders because it seems like she's missing a neck. RE: Crappy Mario Needs Help - Koopaul - 12-15-2011 Okay I got some new stuff that really sucks. ![]() As you can see Small Mario and Luigi look kind of bad... And Toad looks bad too! Give a gap between the place the legs connect at the body. Give a gap between the place the legs connect at the body. that's not a huge problem with cartoon characters though, especially nintendo characters because we're lucky when they have legs at all I'd just say koopaul, focus on making them accurate to the official proportions if that means you have to change your entire scale then that's probably what 's going to make them look best best thing though is that you have plenty of references for the Mario bros from a rendering stand point the style is just fine, but the characters proportions just aren't like the mario characters we are use to RE: Crappy Mario Needs Help - Gors - 12-15-2011 ![]() RE: Crappy Mario Needs Help - Koopaul - 12-15-2011 Yep Gors is right about that, take a look. Perhaps I should immitated the stance from NSMBW? ![]() I'll get to work on that when I can, thanks. RE: Crappy Mario Needs Help - Gwen - 12-15-2011 I do love your Peach though ![]() RE: Crappy Mario Needs Help - Koopaul - 01-10-2012 Bump because I'm working on them again! What do you guys think? Any better? ![]() RE: Crappy Mario Needs Help - Virt - 01-13-2012 They look fantastic. However, Luigi's head is a bit too far back, and his hands are kinda weird. I understand the hand thing, though, because hands are so annoying to sprite. RE: Crappy Mario Needs Help - Ton - 01-13-2012 Personally, I think Mario's face is a bit off. It might be the mustache. RE: Crappy Mario Needs Help - StarSock64 - 01-13-2012 The contrast/colors are a little weird, especially on the skin. They're looking pretty pale. RE: Crappy Mario Needs Help - Garamonde - 01-14-2012 The palette really makes me think of the DS M&LRPG games and I actually like it. It seems to fit with these sprites. Though I'll have to agree that Mario's face looks slightly off. Maybe if he was facing us a tiiiny bit more. I also like Luigi's hands for some reason. ![]() |
