RE: Cave Story HD sprites. - Vipershark - 12-02-2011 err... did you not read gorsal's last post? Things like clothes folds, etc. I mean, just look at the original compared to the CS+ sprite. At its most basic, the CS+ sprite did exactly to the original what you're trying to do with your HD sprite. See the amount of detail that was added there? And that's still a pretty tiny sprite. You want to add even more. For example, folds in his shirt and pants, more detailed hair, shading and folds in the scarf, etc. The bigger the sprite, the more detail you need to add. That's the whole point. RE: Cave Story HD sprites. - tsr moderation staff - 12-02-2011 i personally think the cs+ sprite is a pretty bad example. they did the exact thing where they made the proportions look odd because they are kept exactly the same as the smaller sprite, which, combined with keeping the shading the same, made it look really flat. Plus they sort of changed a lot of the attitude and general feel of the character but if i get into that I'll start ranting. If you're going to do an HD sprite, its probably worthwhile to do it from scratch, more of a SFIIHD or monkey island HD thing. |
