I'm wondering what's with the slew of sprite comics recently.

0.e you don't see blog type storytelling.

What is a blog type storytelling? People writing about their daily randomness.

Luigi Quest #4 = A guy gets letter from a girl and someone whispered dirty things in his ear aka daily randomness.

0.e you never heard of baby walkers before?

Did you just repeat what I said in different words.... are you saying we're both gay... did I just get hit-on in a gay indirect way.

RE: Chibi-Creations - Cobalt Blue - 01-15-2012

because sex preferences is what we're meant to discuss while reading at luigi's quest: the sprite comic.

RE: Chibi-Creations - HandToeKnee - 01-15-2012

I've been ready quite alot of thread today about sprite comics and I have got to say...
WHY FUCKING BOTHER?! Seriously Rolleyes

Make a custom one, from scratch, like the one Gors made. That way people might like it.

While I'm at it, I wish I could sprite like Gors Tongue

RE: Chibi-Creations - Rosencrantz - 01-16-2012

Okay, I for one am getting tired of this guy. I'm holding back from a complete teardown on his rant because this isn't his thread for me to do this to, but there's things I just need to say.

(01-14-2012, 01:33 PM)justover6 Wrote: That is also the reason I tell people to filter their criticisms. The biggest thing about criticism is this, it's an opinion.
An opinion from someone who knows what they're doing, mind you. You will quite literally be incapable of going anywhere unless you get some damn hard criticism from someone who has been in your shoes and knows what mistakes you're making.

I tried to get into a robotics thing a year ago in hopes of getting a job in their labs for the summer. I ended up failing because I realized I wasn't putting in the effort. The guy I worked for outright told me that if I couldn't get into the right work ethic, I should reconsider being an engineer entirely. I didn't become the dipshit that said "fuck you, it's your opinion that I'm not pulling my weight". I got my shit together, got another job on the campus, and now I'm helping teach in that department because I listened to the painful critique of that one guy.

This is how the real-world works. Remain sheltered if you can't handle it, buddy.

When I see his comic, I see blog style story telling, sonic and mario sprites, and a basic good layout for the comic in were he's not going over the top but also getting his point across neatly. Can you see how different the last two sentences were?

I see how one's qualified while the other one isn't!!

(01-14-2012, 01:33 PM)justover6 Wrote: That's why I say people rambling about make customs and urber layouts is a bit stupid. It's almost like telling a baby to walk. He doesn't just get up and say, "YAY I can walk." He learns instinctively and moves towards it to better themselves. But when you just keep picking him up putting him on his legs and letting him fall down well that's just plain child abuse.

This is a poor analogy in general. You're comparing walking to sprite-comic-design. That's pretty much comparing three-dimensional calculus to addition. What you mean to say is that this is like teaching a kid how to write. That kid is only going to get as good as they're pushing themselves to become. You can't just let them do their own thing, because they'd do it wrong and continue being wrong; you need to tell them what's good and what's bad and they have to follow what YOU, the experienced writer, say in order to ever make progress.

Yes, I understand that feeling. You're right this isn't the place to be doing this (neither here or MY thread). Expression in any form should not be bottled up.

To be honest everything till post #11 or 12 should be either deleted or moved to a thread more... appropriate.

It really wouldn't be fair if his thread got locked because of us.

Justover6, do all of the tSR community a favor and stop picking fights in threads that are not yours. It's really fucking rude to the op, thanks.

I'm afraid I have better things to do than repeat sentences in different words. I wrote a phrase with a different meaning.

Anyway, back to chibikage.

Another thing I've noticed is how blurred most of the graphics you use are: I think if you scale the sprites proportionally without blur, the rendition will draw our attention more.
I would recommend you taking a little care when shaping the speech bubbles: some outlines are broken, some are badly filled in, etc... I suggest you go looking for speech bubbles and start a collection in a folder: that can act as a reference or as a source of inspiration, which you can imitate and tweak.
One last thing: I don't know how you work nor on which program you work, but I suggest you work in layers (like in PS, Gimp, Paint.NET, etc), setting the background in one layer, the characters in another and the speech bubbles on the top layer. This will enable you to tweak your comic very easily. You then just have to export your comic as a .png and still be able to work on it afterwards if you want to!

I hope it helps! Smile
