Ahaha Firefox has become so bad
Ever since they decided to replace everything. Javascript doesn't work correctly anymore. THus, Q and E don't rotate. They work fine on Opera.

PS: The ingredient selector (when pushing P) can't move into the upper row. Or the left column.

I think everything is fixed!

...and Gors is offline now.

moved the thread to GameDev since it's got some programming progress!

I've been thinking on the possibility of making different cakes. So, I thought on having ingredients such as chocolate, fruits etc. which if selected along with the 5 base ingredients, it results in a specific cake (i.e chocolate cake, fruit cake etc).

Pressing one of the three remaining buttons (Y, X, A) on a cake will remove it from the board and serve one of the three customers (in this case, pressing Y button will give the cake to Bastard; X would give the cake to the middle customer and A, the right). The cake you give must match the requested cake so you can earn bonus points.

I am still brainstorming, will drop more ideas and sprites later

Mmm...you should have a combo meter so the more you get right the more points; but I think you know that. Also, fat people need more cakes in order for you to move onto the next customer. I was thinking you could do like a rotating line of randomly generted customers on the bottom part, and also ingredients should spoil if you don't use them within a certain amount of time, That could also tie in to the 'bad cake' thing someone else mentioned. Or you could have a certain customer who likes these 'spoiled' ingredient cakes but he only comes around every so often and leaves quickly.

I don't honestly know if I have contributed anything worthwhile, as most of my ideas seem to be 'basic' or self-explanatory thingds that you prolly thought up before. You could add other things besides cakes too, like donuts or pastries though it is your call.

OH! Since the cake making window is an oven, you should dif times for the cakes to come out cooked; as in they start out raw and begin to heat up differently based on the type of cakes. you could also combine the same type of cakes to make multi-teired cakes or dif layered cakes.

is this theme good y/n

should I use similar-styled music y/n

should I keep sampled music or stick to chiptunes y/n

@kakashifan oooh, great idea about the layered cakes, that's going to be interesting! As for ingredients spoiling, I don't know, that might make the game overly complicated...

That is awesome, and that would make that game that more addictive.

It screams French bakery Heart

e: oh cool, 1000th post

RE: AI SHITE KEEKI (Courtesy of Gors Bakery Industries inc.) - Kakashifan - 01-30-2012

The theme is cool sounding, but what kind of a feel do you want? Will there be dif lvls with like dif bgs and ingredients; then you coudl change the tune every so often maybe.

I think I got the spoiling idea from one of those Game and Watch games; Chef it was called. If you bounced the food on the frying pan too long and Yoshi ate it, you'd lose a life, but if you didn't it would just crumble into ashes I think. Haven't played it in years; need to find a YT link maybe.

As for the spoiling, it could be done with only certain items like milk, possibly. Maybe you could move the raw cake into the oven to cook it for a few seconds and it could become burnt if left for too long. My head is spinning with ideas now; if only I could whip up a game that quick lol.

RE: AI SHITE KEEKI (Courtesy of Gors Bakery Industries inc.) - Garamonde - 01-30-2012

1st question: Yes, it's really nice!

2nd question: Yes, this kind of music would be better than chiptunes. Big Grin

3rd question: It sounds a bit too French for this IMO... this tune would be perfect if you toned down the accordion or put something else in its place.

Thanks for the input, Mighty!

Will edit this song a little to be longer and less French. Though I love the sound of the accordion... Shy

I've been thinking on game modes while at work; basically we'll have these games:

ZEN: It's the easiest of the games, you can't die in this mode and there are no customers. You keep making cakes until you choose to leave. When doing so, a table showing how many cakes you did appears. It's ideal for begginers who are starting the game and to kill some time without stress.

BAKERY SHOP: The 'normal' game. You make cakes and serve customers in this mode. You can play this mode forever until you lose. You have three lives at the start of the game, and you lose them if:

1-fail to serve the customer quickly;
2-give a wrong cake to a customer.

You can get extra lives by meeting highscores, just like old arcade games.

STOCK UP: Time attack mode. You need to bake as many cakes possible in two minutes. After two minutes has passed, the game ends and bonus points are awarded for each cake the player made (rarer cakes are worth more points). There are no customers in this version.

2P VERSUS: As for now, I could only think on a Time attack version (who makes more cakes wins). I'd like something more offensive like in Panel de Pon, but I still don't know.
