RE: Which program do you use for pixels? - Speed-X - 04-12-2012 Graphics Gale does take time getting used to, but its very customizable in the sense that you can make a shortcut keyboard command for pretty mich anything. It really helps out. In fact, if ever I need to use Paint, I tend to use Ctrl + D to attempt to select the pencil tool. RE: Which program do you use for pixels? - NICKtendo DS - 04-12-2012 The standard sprite editor of Game Maker 8 is what I use nowadays. Started when I made crappy graphics in GM5 for my crappy games. GM8's sprite editor is far superior to that of GM7, because PNG and multiple undos. I struggle in GM7 now, because you can only correct one mistake at a time and the interface is confusing in comparison. RE: Which program do you use for pixels? - The KKM - 04-12-2012 Like many here, I use Paint (Vista version, I like its' palette) and Graphics Gale. Graphics Gale annoys me in not having an easy way to resize the canvas, but the animation part and layers are useful. RE: Which program do you use for pixels? - Vic - 04-12-2012 I primarily use GraphicsGale for everyday pixeling and Photoshop 7 for when I run into transparency problems with GGale, which is almost non avoidable. Seriously, the way GGale handles transparency is so weird and clunky, it only works half the time and only after you mess with it for way too long >_> I also use Previous' Animation program sometimes, I just wish there was some way to set animation speed to all frames at once Unless there is and I'm just too stupid to find it... I would like to just work straight in GraphicsGale, but it'd take some getting used to and I don't have the time or patience right now. I made all graphics in ai shite keeki directly in graphics gale, it was pretty easy to get the hang of it the problem is really resizing the canvas and eraser imo. They aren't as easy as they are in ms paint. There is no option to set them all to the same value, though. RE: Which program do you use for pixels? - Vic - 04-12-2012 See, that's what I mean by "too stupid to find it". I overlooked that option every single time I used the program RE: Which program do you use for pixels? - Kitsu - 04-12-2012 I use XP Paint (with PaintHotkeys, buy it now for $0.00 and you'll get the whole program for free!) for the pixelwork, then copy over to Gamemaker to layout the individual frames THEN copy to Previous's Animator to set transparency and frame speed. I tried GraphicsGale before, too, but... it's free edition, so no saving, and I haven't really felt like spending the time to learn the different interface yet. XP Paint can be replaced with Paint.net when I don't have access to the first one. Of course, then I sacrifice certain features (such as really easy copying with transparency in XP Paint) for other certain features (such as selecting/painting all pixels of a color, layers, or unlimited undos). Even so, I'm still generally faster in XP Paint. Gors Wrote:the problem is really resizing the canvas and eraser imo. They aren't as easy as they are in ms paint.Wait. An eraser tool actually exists In Gg? RE: Which program do you use for pixels? - Strasteo - 04-12-2012 I primarily use Vista Paint. Provides all the essentials and doesn't bog me down with a bunch of other stuff. However, Graphics Gale does seem like a good program, and while I've been using Previous' animator for a while now, I think I'll give Graphics Gale's animation function a try. RE: Which program do you use for pixels? - Jawnsunn - 04-12-2012 motherfukin graphicsgale. the OG of pixel tools. RE: Which program do you use for pixels? - Jamuk - 04-13-2012 Just wondering but is there a way to set which colour transparent appears on GraphicsGale? I can set the transparency fine but the transparent 'colour' just appears as black on screen which isn't very helpful with my black lines. I could work around it by making my outlines a dark shade of grey, but I thought there might be an easier way. RE: Which program do you use for pixels? - Vipershark - 04-13-2012 Yes, assuming you're not opening a previously saved gif. I'm on my phone right now so i cant check but if you open the frame properties there will be a little rectangle (either white or black, i dont remember the default color) and clicking it will allow you to change the color ro whatever you want. Then just make everything you want tranparent said color. If you're trying to edit a previously-saved gif, you're locked to its color palette and transparency color (usually black) so you'll have to copy and past each individual frame into a new file to fix it RE: Which program do you use for pixels? - recme - 04-13-2012 I use regular XP paint. Trying my hand on graphicsgale and i'm getting used to it. RE: Which program do you use for pixels? - Chris2Balls [:B] - 04-13-2012 I mostly use Paint.NET. I sometimes open Win7 Paint for rotating things, and I use Gamemaker and Previous's Animator for animations. |
