RE: Where did you get your username from? - Strasteo - 04-13-2012

So I forum-hopped a lot when I was younger and used different names for everything. I was pretty much never the same thing twice. But then there came a time when I realized I needed something more permanent. I tried to stick to Stratus-Stereo for a while, but then that got way too long and tedious to type and it didn't sound that great.

So I combined the two.

Instant solution.

RE: Where did you get your username from? - Mutsukki - 04-14-2012

I had another username I used for a long, long time, it's still my Youtube channel name, Koopser (and how Gors originally knew me, heh), it's Kooper + Koops, the Koopa sidekicks for the first two Paper Mario. Then I realized this name was taken in some forums and there were some bizarre fan character that used this name.

So then, when I was on a Pop'n Music craze, there was this character and song that I really like in Fever for the PS2, his name was Mutsuki:

I needed a nice username for the bemanistyle forums, but of course Mutsuki is a very common and generic japanese name. That's when I thought about relating it to my real name, making it have a double consonant, and it pretty much sticked with me since then.

RE: Where did you get your username from? - Previous - 04-14-2012

Let me just check this old harddrive here and look for the requested information......

Back in the day when I was just randomly browsing the internets, I happened to chat with one of my school colleagues and we ended up changing our usernames and playing various roles and when the conversation was over, I was left as the "Lord of Darkness" ("Lord der Finsternis", actually). Yep. And that is the name which I used to register at Gaming Universe, the first online forum I ever visited and where I still bug everyone. When I signed up on Pixeltendo later, I decided to go by the name "Lordes" because that was shorter and not german and would avoid weird questions. Anyone remember that? No? One day, Pixeltendo was rebooted and everyone had to register again ans I chose the name "Previous" for whatever reasons and ever since, I'm Lord Previous.

RE: Where did you get your username from? - Hoeloe - 04-14-2012

A rather long time ago (just before the release of Halo: Combat Evolved), I amalgamated "Halo" with "holographic" (because Pokemon cards), then respelled the outcome.

RE: Where did you get your username from? - Chris2Balls [:B] - 04-14-2012

My name's Christopher.
My sobriquet in middle school was Cristobal, then in highschool somebody said, "Christoboules *hin hin*", which would translate as, "Christoballs *hurr hurr*" in English, which unfortunately stuck.
So I started using Christoballs as handle. Then I saw a guy on Pixelation called ben2theedge and I thought the 2 was neat.
Chris2Balls then stuck, and anybody IRL who browses my various internet accounts like calling me that occasionally (which doesn't actually bother me).

Premises for my character/avatar:
A marker pen drawing started it off, which then became pixelart. Somewhere around that time I was reading Supertron, which I really liked.
It led me to make this, which most of you probably remember best. I then wanted to remake the character a couple of times, this one taking inspiration from Shawn's persona, but this one didn't catch on.
I finally got to my TFR version!

RE: Where did you get your username from? - TGE - 04-14-2012

Well, my username was created when I was making my youtube account (hence my youtube account name) for some stupid video that could only be watched if you were 18 or above which my classmates wanted me to see. So I was thinking abit like... what do I like? Games allright... That's where the part "TheGame" comes from. Explorer has more to do with the fact that I always searched up things about games when I was younger. (I still do that Tongue) And suddenly there it was the game explorer. It was born.
And my Shadow fanboyiness was created when I heard this song in a sonic video.

That's why it's my favourite song BTW.

RE: Where did you get your username from? - StarSock64 - 04-14-2012

Sock comes from a sheep character from this thing I was doing a long time ago. Now it's just kind of my handle I guess (which means calling me "Star" is about as inaccurate as calling Fox "Star," but it probably sounds less stupid so that's okay).

I needed a Minecraft name and I got mad from not being able to come up with anything normal, so I decided to use Sock in the most obnoxious way I could think of. It kind of unintentionally fits with my thing for astronomy. I wanted to be an astronomer when I was a little kid, but then I realized I hate math and it's really hard to get a job as an astronomer, or so I hear. I put it down on tSR figuring I would just change it if I ever actually posted, but... that didn't happen. My sock hands are the best thing anyway.

When Sock doesn't work on its own, I put other words behind it. In Spiral Knights I put Pocket_Sock because I own several pairs of socks with zipper pockets. They're kind of neat (and surprisingly not uncomfortable), but they're also kind of useless.
In Transformice I put Windsock because the koinobori in the game Claymates left an impression on me when I was younger, but people kept reading it as "Windshock" for some reason. I guess that sounds cooler, but my names aren't supposed to be cool.

It doesn't matter to me what my usernames are because I usually just go as Angie in places I actually care about anyway.

RE: Where did you get your username from? - Tellis - 04-14-2012

Well, way back when in my first days on the interwebs, back in the times of the Nsider forums I went by Jester Frog (because uh, Jesters are cool and uh, frogs are cool... yeah!) and then I made a character to go along with it, which was, at the time, an awful Kirby recolor/edit. I later developed him into a more frog-like character with like, the ability to make portals or something but they often went haywire (probably since? Many people on the forum I used to frequent would refer to me with variations on it, J-Frog, Jay, Froggie, or just Jester and whatnot. Also, Gorf Retsej is my name backwards, which sounds like a dwarf name or something.

But Tellis? Honestly a pretty dumb backstory. So at one point I changed my avatar on MSN to some fan-art that combined the L4D2 characters with Touhou: Imperishable Night characters, where Tewi was dressed as Ellis. Thusly I changed my name (temporarily, I thought) to Tellis, smashing the two names together. An internet friend of mine thought it was an awesome name on its own so he urged me to keep it and thus! I now tell everyone my name is Tellis. Still need to solidify what my reference character looks like though, oops, here's my TFR-self though. He's definitely more based on my actual self, and more based on my obsessions with over-the-top fighting/anime things and also giant eyebrows which are on my face.

And honestly I love both names and corresponding characters. Whether I make an assist or full character for TFR, I think there'll be some double teaming involved from both of them. Feel free to call me either name, not like anyone actually knows me as Jester...

RE: Where did you get your username from? - Jay Rockman - 04-14-2012

I like the name Jay (yes, it's not my real name), and Rockman because I like Megaman. Using Google, I found that there really are people named Jay Rockman.

RE: Where did you get your username from? - recme - 04-14-2012

I wanted to recolor the Zelda mangas on photoshop and put them on deviantart. Sadly, that never happened, because I never got photoshop.

My character however, I came up with him when I was a kid. My favorite combination of clothes would be a red shirt and blue jeans. Ever since, I've been seeing that combination of clothes everywhere!

My mom bought me brown shoes but I never wore them. I decided that would be a good color for shoes. Goku inspired the hair I made. I was a huge DBZ fan during the time. Bradley is my real name so I thought it would be neat to put Brad as his name, because I don't like my normal name. The nickname fit me and thats what people call me nowadays.

RE: Where did you get your username from? - Koopaul - 04-15-2012

I like Mario, Nintendo and stuff. I also have a pet turtle.

Back when I joined BTHive I was asked to put in a username... So I put in koopaul. First forum I ever joined. Used that name for everything.

Yeah I wish there was some clever legendary story behind it, but eh, what do you expect with a name like Koopaul hm?
