Your progress is almost certainly going to be a lot slower if you focus on one thing at a time like that. You'll get better much faster by just practising.

Your kirby sprite lacks shading and looks too small (if you scaled it down to 1x sprite). Make kirby a bit bigger and then add some detail to him.
