I know it's cliche, but Final Fantasy 7 needs a remake. But, as I say this, my faith increases - because I know that the games are being remade progressively anyway.

My reason to ask this isn't so I can play, but so I can introduce my girlfriend to it. The story is incredible, and I think she'd love to play it... If it didn't look like poop.

I'd love a reimagining of Illusions of Time/Gaia. It's an Enix game which got little love, but I think they could make an awesome game with today's technology. That and Secret of Evermore.

Far Cry 2. Seriously, if the missions actually changed a bit I would have finished it by now, but at the current point it's just gotten painfully repetitive.

Other than that I'm actually really content with most games I've played. Braid could have done with a less vague and depressing story (personal opinion, of course), but the rest of the game's greatness pretty much overrides it anyway.

You know, I'm going to have to second these.

On a unrelated note:
To be honest, I think the best candidates for this aren't those amazing series for their time that might just a be a tad dated. Those will usually be still pretty good with just a graphics update or re-release.

Rather, I think the game that would benefit most from a remake are those that had few interesting concepts/or mechanics and just either didn't quite pull it off well enough to be interesting, or failed in enough areas to swamp that one interesting aspect and turn the overgame into something mediocre or even bad. Those are the games that could use a second chance.

Like Dynowarz. It had robot dinosaur mecha... but was a very clunky in the gameplay department, and too easy. Not to the point where it was unplayable, but it make the overall game lackluster other than the fighting robot dinosaurs mecha and smashing evil computers part.

You know all those games that should have been awesome, but weren't.

Makes me think of Enslaved. I loved the game to pieces, but the combat needed a bit more work. It worked flawlessly for most of the game but then the camera would go a bit odd or something would happen which probably shouldn't (it's been a long time so can't remember what annoyed me exactly, but it was that feeling of not quite right-ness).

Then again being that Namco (who likes to send games out to die) didn't advertise it at all it's save to declare it dead forever.

Another published by Namco and left to die game, Splatterhouse, also needs a sequel or something. For a mindless hack and slash, and for fans of the series, it was an OK game (read the Destructoid review here). Yeah it's no great loss but it's still a shame the license was revived for no good reason.

Bionic Commando Re:Armed 2 would also be nice. As in, just remove the current second one and make a new second one.

Shadow the Hedgehog and Sonic Heroes SERIOUSLY need a remake. Those games had good potential (especially Shadow the Hedgehog, it had an amazingly attractive storyline), but the gameplay mechanics messed the whole game up one way, or another. I would DEFINATELY buy Shadow the hedgehog if they completely remade it.

I would love to see a pretty heavy remake of the original Jade Cocoon. That game had so much potential. One of my childhood favorites.

The main issue I had with it was it felt short and kind of rushed. You could probably finish the game in one long sitting if you wanted to (excluding the postgame Corridor, which kind of sucked). Lengthen the main storyline, add some better postgame content, and of course, update the graphics/music/etc but keep the aesthetics that made the game amazing in the first place.

it'd be pointless if they remade those two games in particular.

I agree except for one thing that they would really need to change.

Tapping a button to walk, was a nightmare. SHUFFLE SHUFFLE SHUFFLE SHUFFLE.

Hey I've been really into Rapage lately. Just the whole concept of being giant monsters destroying everything in sight is incredibly fun. But the series got increasingly worse over time.

This series needs a reboot! I wanna monster mash with my friends again.

I think this kind of game would benefit from online play. Maybe customize cities to demolish.

I think a hand-drawn style would look great too.

klonoa 2. wonderful storyline, colorful levels, decent gameplay, undermined for its childish look.

We really really really need a new Darkstalkers. Make it in 2D like KOF XIII or Blazblue (because 2D works better with the game personality) and bam, instant seller.
