Um... huge mythological bird? Ho-oh? Articuno, Zapdos, Moltres? And if you need the kidnapping-people aspect, two of Drifloon's Pokedex entries reference it trying to drag away children who grab onto them.
Those were based off of other giant birds. Tongue

Pokemon should be more about making fun creatures, not having to make a Pokemon equivalent out of every real life animal. Plus what about the ones that aren't based on animals, but inanimate objects?

Using the squid suggestion as an example, in the Pokemon world it would be kind of redundant when they already have Tentacruel, which serves the purpose of a Kraken-like monster. He shares traits between several tentacle-having real life creatures. He is, as already stated, more based on a jellyfish (lots of tendrils, poisonous), but nevertheless I feel like having a squid creature for the sake of a squid creature is redundant without bringing something new to the table, such as an interesting or rarely used type combination.

Looked like a duck to me... Having a beaver tail is kind of important to be a Platypus...
Bibarel is also a beaver. Unless there's some magical Psyduck Bibarel breeding going on...

I'm sorry, the posts in the thread are being thrown out faster than I can type. Very Sad I edited the post though, I saw what you wrote immediately after I finished posting. xD

Also want lemur. Very Sad

The point I was trying to get across in several disjointed posts (mainly because people are responding while I'm trying to respond to something else xD) is that in the context of the Pokemon world, the Pokemon can and HAVE been designed with more than one animal drawing inspiration. I'd agree that inspiration for Huntail DID come from an eel, but I'd also argue that there are signs its design was also inspired by the viperfish.

manetric is not a wolf it's based on a MANED WOLF (which is a distant relative of all other canines but is closest to the bush dog)

Oh come now, you're just splitting hairs... or shall we say... manes? Cool

Seriously though, I don't like manectric, and I really do think they should have a cooler looking wolf. Mightyena and Manectric seem like the closest they have to something like that at the moment, though.

That would be Sudowoodo I belive, athough being classified as a rock type and is an Imitation Pokemon, in which the Stickbug would also fall under the same category of bugs that blend in with the environment.
