RE: GameFreak getting lazy? - JoshR691 - 09-12-2008 Actually, now that I look at it more in-depth(thanks to Serebii.net =P) it's almost enough to see it as a new game...I mean, it's almost what they did with FR/LG, where the only updated sprites were Kanto's(Only this Pokedex has more than just the Regions Generation) I checked this out, because I'm a Pokefreak, and quite a few of the Sinnoh Dex's Pokemon don't have new sprites, they just use the second frame of the animation as the one that's constant throughout the battle(the ones I could pick out are: Magikarp, Geodude, Graveler, Steelix, Wurmple, Beutifly, Cherrim, Heracross, Aipom, Sudowoodo, Mr. Mime, Hoothoot, Snorlax, Unown, Azumarill, Rotom, Magnemite, Tropius, Scyther, Zubat & Golbat)...Of course, that being said, I haven't seen the whole animation for every Pokemon, so I don't know if they made it a new animation using an old frame(making one new one) or just the same animation, using the second pose as the first Also, I love that they animated the Trainers, and gave the Gym Leaders that new Battle Intro(where it's now a Pixel art instead of the Sprite just being enlarged) RE: GameFreak getting lazy? - Phantom Killah - 09-12-2008 (09-12-2008, 05:12 PM)JoshR691 Wrote: Also, I love that they animated the Trainers, and gave the Gym Leaders that new Battle Intro(where it's now a Pixel art instead of the Sprite just being enlarged) Hey now that's pretty slick. RE: GameFreak getting lazy? - Whispy - 09-12-2008 It took me several years to finally admit to myself that game companies are just that, companies. Their final goal is to get money, like it or not. I always felt so good playing Zelda or Pokémon games, but then more and more kept coming and I never really understood why. Now, of course, I do. VG Companies do milk their best-selling series a lot, and really, who wouldn't? Maybe when people say "the first was the best", they aren't that wrong. Sometimes the first have more inspiration put into them. We can see how the designs of the Pokémon creatures have been going downhill, especially with DP. Some are still pretty badass, but most are just... "eh". I suppose Platinum is nothing more than that - getting more money out of the IV Generation. New forms for Rotom? Bah, just how they try to get people into the game. The lawn mower is ridiculous and full of awesome, but I'm still skeptic. RE: GameFreak getting lazy? - Cshad - 09-12-2008 I hope platinum is better Everything after gold seemed to lose my interest. It just didnt have the feeling, that made me want to play it again, and again, and again. Emerald was pretty good though. RE: GameFreak getting lazy? - Vipershark - 09-12-2008 G/S/C was, is, and always will be the best generation. (except that G/S/C had cool new Pokemon, Night and Day, two extra types, more stats and EVs and breeding) RE: GameFreak getting lazy? - Ark Kuvis - 09-12-2008 (09-12-2008, 10:53 PM)Phantom Kirby Wrote:Ru/Sa/Em owned R/B/Y which owned G/S/C which owned D/P/Pl hard into the ground.(09-12-2008, 10:49 PM)Vipershark Wrote: G/S/C was, is, and always will be the best generation. No, we can't. Every time someone says this I fuck the living shit out of their asses becuase it's the dumbest thing anyone can ever say. Ever. Lets take a look at some 1st Season Pokemon designs shall we? Squirtle: A blue turtle. Original because it's blue. Oh wait blue is the color of water... maybe not so original and conceptual breaking! Ditto: Fucking shitball of slime The three legendary birds: Elemental birds! Sweet! Lets see, the fire ones wings are on fire. Ok, good. Thunder one is yellow and spikey... alright we already did this with Jolteon but ok why not again. Fuck it, Ice will just be a big blue bird. Not icey enough? Lets put a diamond on it's forehead so you know were not shitting around. Butterfree: This looks exactly like a butterfly, if I didn't know any better I'd say I was playing Real Lifemon, not Pokemon!!! Diglett: One bump Dugtrio: Three bumps Magneton: Three Magnemites Voltorb: Pokeball??? Guess again.... Electrode: Bizarro Voltorb Okay have I proved my point? No, designs aren't getting lazy they are getting more creative. To even further my point let's create a first gen pokemon right now. It's name will be Puppound. It's a doggie. It is normal type, and looks like a golden retriever puppy, but anime style. It has 2 tails and a round jewel on its head. Ta-da!! Now shut the fuck up. RE: GameFreak getting lazy? - Vipershark - 09-12-2008 what PK and Ark are you both retarded or have you just never played GSC before RE: GameFreak getting lazy? - amber dawn firebaugh - 09-12-2008 (09-12-2008, 11:31 PM)Vipershark Wrote: what i played GCS it felt like an expansion pack to RBY and we all know my feelings on rby. RSE (Well, Emerald) for best Pokémon game. Although the alterations made with Platinum fix almost all of the flaws D/P had. I hope movement is a ittle faster now. Surfing was a piss-take. RE: GameFreak getting lazy? - Alex - 09-13-2008 Registeel's sprite was changed, and really, isn't that all that matters? And I agree with amber dawn firebaugh that the original 150 Pokemon were uncreative. RE: GameFreak getting lazy? - amber dawn firebaugh - 09-13-2008 agreeing with groove man and phantom. the biggest flaw with D/P was the game was too slow paced RE: GameFreak getting lazy? - DioShiba - 09-13-2008 (09-12-2008, 10:55 PM)Ark Kuvis Wrote:(09-12-2008, 10:53 PM)Phantom Kirby Wrote:Ru/Sa/Em owned R/B/Y which owned G/S/C which owned D/P/Pl hard into the ground.(09-12-2008, 10:49 PM)Vipershark Wrote: G/S/C was, is, and always will be the best generation. Ru/Sa/E didn't really own anything other then D/P/Pl, it was fine, but it didn't really prove anything other then the fact it was meant to show off skill If you look at it in a way, The story line of Ru/Sa/E wasn't really that great. A lot of the pokemon's names were uncreative despite the fact that they were decent looking. The point of two rival team whatevers was pointless, because you don't need two evil teams fighting against each other for domanince, Cause thats cold war feeling in the end which is pretty sad. And the point of having to get a national pokedex from another game was pretty stupid, because later in Emerald proved that it could have been done with out another game that had the national pokedex. Mostly everthing in Ru/Sa/E was done only to prove what a pokemon game could be gone graphic wise on the GBA, not gameplay wise. So really, R/B/G/Y beats G/S/C which owned Ru/Sa/E while that owned D/P/Pl. I rest my case. |
