RE: AkumaTh's Sprite Work: 8-Bit(ish) sprites - AkumaTh - 05-22-2013

Here are some 8-Bit(ish) sprites I made. Sonic is an edit of Megaman while the rest are custom.

Also, is there any more criticism for Phoenix Wright? If not, I'm going to try to submit him.

RE: AkumaTh's Sprite Work: Toph WIP - AkumaTh - 05-30-2013

Since I've been taking the week off from comics, I'm going to be working on the walking animation.

This is what I have so far. Only the first two frames are done. The rest are still in a working progress.

RE: AkumaTh's Sprite Work: Toph WIP - MotorRoach - 05-30-2013

I personally find it unnatural to walk with your arms staying up like that. Does Toph actually walks like that?

As for PW, the sheet looks good, though I'm not all that familiar with the AAI sprite style, so I'll be analyzing it further a bit later.

RE: AkumaTh's Sprite Work: Toph WIP - Ton - 05-30-2013

If she's pissed and ready to punch someone, she could walk with her fists balled up, but her face doesn't really reflect that. I'm sure there's some context that would make it clearer.

I don't believe she actually walks in battle. What I do remember is that stance and her making a few steps forward to avoid attacks. I was more inclined to make a regular walk (editing Sakura's as you can tell) though Ben suggested her head to be down.

I figured it would be that she was still in battle but moving cautiously, thus walk in her stance. Though the face could show emotion, I'm just waiting for the overall body to be finished. Too boot, since this is an open project elsewhere, I figured making the animation for the legs to see if someone can improve on it.

RE: AkumaTh's Sprite Work: Toph Walk Finish-ish - AkumaTh - 06-01-2013

The walk is finish-ish. Of course, it could be fixed up.

And for proof of my involvement with Death Battle, I am in the credits of the latest match: He-Man Vs Lion-O.

(This should also inspire involvement on the other forums because if this isn't complete, they would probably be desperate and use this...)

RE: AkumaTh's Sprite Work: Toph Walk Finish-ish - Gors - 06-01-2013

this still looks dumb

walk animations are hard but they are also a symmetrical movement, so each thing that happens in the left step should (ideally) happen in the right step. With this in mind, that small body jitter looks out of place, and the movement looks uneven, causing a limp

the perspective is completely weird, the legs look disconnected from the upper body, as they were twisted, the pose diesn't make any sense (i mean, who the heck walks like that while wearing a nonchalant face and limping)

the character also has no neck and everything could be better. I will make a sprite edit soon.

That pose is actually the pose Toph uses when she fights (considering she's blind and all) so the weird bendy-arms-limp is meant to be her in battle position, advancing forward. That part, at least, is correct...

but the rest about the legs being at an entirely different perspective is definitely wrong. It looks like you just sort of stuck two different sprites together at the waist and it really doesn't work. Also, the nonchalant face. Your signature is a screenshot of her in a fight and she definitely doesn't look like this: -___-

RE: AkumaTh's Sprite Work: Toph Walk Finish-ish - Gors - 06-03-2013

the limp should then be a more calculated one. A blind person would limp (or in this case, take irregular steps) slightly when walking so he/she can 'feel' the environment he/she is walking on (kinda like bug antennas; you are 'seeing' with yor foot/legs). Though I won't say much because I don't know this character

this being said, I'm glad I did not edit it yet because I'd ruin the character, making it walk normally as she was a healthy person..

And you're right. Mostly took the top half of the sprite on the legs. I was mostly concern with how the legs animate. Hopefully that will be fixed up before the sprite sheet is completed.

As for the nonchalant face, I tend to make a separate facial sheet which should have all the emotions she would need. That is the least concern because it is technically easy to do.

Thing is, she can "see". Being blind doesn't hinder her in the slightest. Pretty much by the vibrations on the ground she can detect her location and her opponent. Sort of like how Daredevil can move around despite being blind.

RE: AkumaTh's Sprite Work: More Toph and some Guardians - AkumaTh - 06-12-2013

I've made a request topic for help on Toph, because I really need it. But I've have been working on new poses for her.

Current Sheet

The left one is the taunt that Ben suggested, the other is an attempt to make arm Earth Bending. While the motion blur I think turned out alright, the back to position poses definitely needed work.

Besides that, I've been working on a small sheet for a tumblr blog I run.

While I think the shape came out good, shading is still a big weak point of mine.

This is kinda sad. I personally don't see a reason to make a blind character if they don't act like they're blind. That's kinda like 'im making a tetraplegical characer that has the special power of walking'. Kinda defeats its purpose. But oh well

I still have an edit overdue, I'll make it in my lunch break.

RE: AkumaTh's Sprite Work: A Fly on the Wall - AkumaTh - 06-27-2013

A small bump to show off something I've made out of boredom.

[Image: what_s_the_buzz__by_akumath-d6avchc.png]

I'm pretty sure the shading could be better, but what about anything else?

RE: AkumaTh's Sprite Work: A Fly on the Wall - SchAlternate - 06-27-2013

I think I've seen that character before...

*cough* *cough*

also I'm a bit sketchy about the left (our right) arm
maybe because both arms and hands can be reduced to 1x1 pixel arms with 4x4 pixel balls for hands
