RE: Outdated Games That Deserve Remakes? - Gaia - 12-11-2012 Dynowarz. I actually saw potential here, as mecha dinosaurs usually don't get the good guy role THAT often. Also, it could use some actual challenge and variety to the levels, and add a little story depth as to why Dynonchius betrayed the player in the first place, plus it had a nice design too, it only suffered from poor execution. Popful Mail. Another classic for the Saturn gone unnoticed, it could use the same attention that it's brothers Ys and Lunar get. Medarot 1. Basically, a nice treat to show how the series rose to popularity in the first place, when a later game (the one with Ikki) helped the franchise grow. Mega Man. Seriously. Just. Do it. It's about freakin' time this guy got a facelift, and I don't mean another damn series that builds the universe, like.. Start from scratch, give it a few coconuts, and grounder it to the floor, you know, a do-over of the classic series? Add elements from the Legends series and there you go. Also, word of warning: Don't pull a Zero and have the friggin' SIDE character outshine the TITLE CHARACTER TO THE POINT HE GETS HIS OWN SPINOFF SERIES. That to me doesn't make sense. At all. It was one of my major gripes about the series, as some of the games were most likely built for someone else, Mega Man & Bass for example. RE: Outdated Games That Deserve Remakes? - Koopaul - 12-11-2012 There's a lot of old franchises I want to see return but not necessarily as a remake. I'd rather see sequels. Possibly Star Fox Adventures as Dinosaur Planet... the game it should have been. Much as it felt like an unfinished game, I actually liked the atmosphere and the game logic. It was just laboriously repetitive and hard most of the time. Also, CV2 would translate beautifully into the current Metroidvania game engines, especially if it was modeled after OoE. It's almost painful to see Konami just forget about the title :,C RE: Outdated Games That Deserve Remakes? - Kriven - 12-11-2012 King of Dragons and Knights of the Round by Capcom would be pretty neat, but I also like them just how they are. *Shrug* RE: Outdated Games That Deserve Remakes? - Vipershark - 12-11-2012 (12-11-2012, 08:33 PM)Rosencrantz Wrote:Oh god yes, I forgot all about this.(12-11-2012, 04:30 PM)Chris2Balls [:B] Wrote:(12-11-2012, 04:08 PM)Rλy Wrote: Castlevania 2: Simon's Quest. This is something I wish for too. There is actually a fan-made upgraded remake of the game called Dracula's Shadow which adds in some modern elements such as new characters and saving, among other things. You can get it here. But yeah, a full-on modern remake would be amazing. Vectorman Pulseman The Dig Silouette Mirage Sonic R (Not Sonic Riders, not SEGA Racing transformed) Snowbaord Kids (It got a remake/reboot but it's not what I wanted or expected from Atlus) Megaman 2-7 in Powered Up style Megaman X 2-6 in Maverick Hunter X style. Megaman Legends HD Collection Where you unlock the games as you play in the order in which they take place. Misadventures of Tronne Bonne MML1-MML2. If I could get Super Metroid in Other M style I'd probably just instantly die because that'd probably be the best Metroid game of all time, hands down. OR OR Can i get all 3 Prime games in Other M style too? PLEASE? Mystical Ninja starring Goemon and Goemons Great Advneture. Secret of Evermore, Secret of Mana and Seiken Densetsu 3 in Legend of Mana style or BETTER. I could keep going but you've already got such great suggestions. RE: Outdated Games That Deserve Remakes? - Dolphman - 12-12-2012 Jill of the Jungle, Epic Pinball, Jazz Jackrabbit. In fact. Epic Games need to give the Unreal and Gears of War series' a break, and bring back their older ones. No need to mention Rise of the Triad since a reboot is on its way. But out of Apogee's other games. Blake Stone Got overshadowed by DooM pretty quickly when it came out, due to using the Wolfenstein 3D engine. Plus there's not that many modern first person shooters in a sci-fi setting. And then there's Raven Software. We'd love a new Heretic and Hexen but their second game is an interesting one. Shadowcaster A dungeoncrawler RPG with a full 3D world. The engine was by John Carmack, no less. Predated DooM by a few months. It had one gimmick that's rarely used in games: shapeshifting. The hero could turn into six creatures with their own abilities. RE: Outdated Games That Deserve Remakes? - Dazz - 12-12-2012 Back in the day, cruisin' through the DOS prompt, A litte modem action I got anything I want, Blake Stone or some Duke 3D, IPX LAN, don't fuck with me, Back in the day we had four buttons man, Gravis GamePad 'til we lost our tan, ZZT, where I made my first game, Shit was mad hot 'til Click-n-Play came, Up in the attic, it's Jumpin Flash, All day long 'til a PlayStation crash, Pirated Thrill Kill, what a waste of time, Now I get why they trashed that crime, We got nerd history, stories for days, Spit it how I lived it 'til this shit pays, So back up off if you question the cred, OG nerds, we'll cut off your head. But naw, seriously, those games in this verse are seriously the best of the best in regards to those one-hit-wonders. RE: Outdated Games That Deserve Remakes? - Rai - 12-12-2012 If you know me, then you'll know I hold a very special place in whatever it is I have instead of a heart for the original two Medal of Honor titles. Seeing as EA is run by chimps that have been lobotomized via buckshot, though, I'd rather they stayed put. Then there's Blood Omen and Soul Reaver. I know I link these articles every time Legacy of Kain comes up, but if you haven't read them, well... read them. Thing is, I'd want the rest of LoK discarded. Blood Omen rebuilt in Soul Reaver's style, and Soul Reaver with Amy Hennig's original story completed. The issue with THAT is the fact that the brand is now owned by Squeenix (which itself is run by colossal fuckhats), and I have a particular hatred for Nomura's art "style" wherein he starts drawing and then never fucking stops. Then there's the issue with the original Blood Omen being partially owned by Activision (why is this post so full of companies I hate?), and because they're all dickbags, they'll sit on it just because it's a potential threat. Can't even get the original on Good Old Games because of the fuckers. But I'd love to see a remastered Morrowind with combat that doesn't suck. Ooh, and an exact conversion of the original Unreal into Unreal Engine 3. I just gave myself a boner. FUCK Yoshio Sakamoto, FUCK his revisionist bullshit take on what was supposed to be a strong female protagonist, and FUCK that linearity. Not trying to chastise you for liking Other M (seriously!), but every inch of that abomination fills me with a violence I don't know what to do with. Even Hunters' single-player portion bothered to at least be fun. So, uh, another Metroid game developed by Retro Studios would be pretty rad. Keep dat first-person shit. Can you imagine SR388 in 3D? Can you imagine no cut scenes just pure isolation and ambience. I'm not here telling you Other M's story was amazing because I'm not. What I'm saying is everyone loving the Prime series games I do not understand. I don't know WHEN Samus EVER became an archaeologist or when this series was MORE compelling as first person but I need those to stop being innate desires of dear friends. Other M was exactly what Metroid looks like in 3D and though not executed properly was a Metroid game with isolation, different pathways alternate routes and that contains the aspect of speed running. Rai, I love you. -Giraffe. RE: Outdated Games That Deserve Remakes? - TomGuycott - 12-12-2012 Personally I have good experience in both realms of Metroid gaming. The first person aspect increases the feeling of loneliness. In a third person perspective you are sort of watching over the character, from a first person perspective you see it from their point of view and try to bridge a gap between you and the character. As for Samus being an archaeologist of sorts, I have to say that being raised by an intelligent race like the Chozo that is now nearly (or totally, I forget which in the storyline of Metroid) extinct and given the fact that her job has her engaging aliens on sometimes uncharted planets, skills synonymous with archaeology are probably something she would have. However, I still like the gameplay where you don't have to scan things a bit better, and I prefer the third person gameplay like Super Metroid better than Metroid Prime. I never played Other M, but aside from the terrible story related elements it does seem like a game I could enjoy. |
