RE: Virt [PLAYER] - Chris2Balls [:B] - 04-18-2017 Great work so far! Pointers for the portrait: Looks like you're going for a Jojolion/Steel Ball Run style. The smile isn't typical of the style - think more of a fashion model pout or of a neutral expression. I'd separate the eyes a tiny bit more, too. Don't bother with secondary lighting, or any strong highlights. Vary your cross-hatching patterns, and don't be afraid to use longer and flatter lines. The sprite will need areas of flat colour to rest the eyes. Rely on the graphical boldness of the black and white manga as a base, the rest will follow. Sure, but I think it's too good to leave out. And no need to apologize about multiposting. I do that too if I made enough progress and after some time has passed. If a post had zero visible attention (thanks, replies, all that jazz), I'll just update that post. After half a day or so, I'll just make a new post if I have new content, regardless of visible attention. It's to make sure people know I've made progress. I actually encourage that personally, it reminds me of finding rare stone forms for Kirby in Kirby Superstar. RE: Virt [PLAYER] - Chris2Balls [:B] - 04-22-2017 You're pumping out some quality work! I especially like the Midnight Moe animation, it's one of your best so far. It's awesome to see improvement like this. Anyway, back to the portrait: Changed a few discrepancies, like adding the lacking blue armpad and shoulderpad. You may notice I lowered the shoulder, as your character was looking quite squat (forced perspective?), and I tried giving more volume to the chest, as it looked quite flat before - you may note that JJBA characters have this strange pectoral thing going which is not so much a board with rounded edges, but a simplified and merged shape of the pecs, with a straight edge along the bottom. I messed around with the face a tiny bit, to get a more neutral expression. I hope it helps somehow, I'm looking forward to more! |
