RE: Pokémon AlphaOmega and RubySapphire - Koopaul - 07-08-2014 Well it does allow these past games to interact with the newest ones. RE: Pokémon AlphaOmega and RubySapphire - Sengir - 07-08-2014 Pokemon Diamond and Pokemon Pearl were my favorite Pokemon games, but they were released really recently so I do not think that they will remake them yet. They can move Pokemon to the new games just as Pokemon Ruby and Pokemon Sapphire did, so there is not a reason to leave them out. I think X & Y just left a bit of a bad taste in my mouth. I'd not played through a Pokemon game in the long time prior to these, and I just felt like it was way too easy and straight forward. There was no variety to anything, and nobody on God's earth should be able to memorise all of those Types and which Pokemon relate to what, considering their colours and design don't relate to anything anymore. As someone who hasn't played a Pokémon game since Ruby and Sapphire, I get what you mean. While X and Y were good Pokémon games and the changes they brought were very refreshing, it didn't hide the fact that it was an easy Pokémon game. Not only did that XP Share get a lot of my Pokémon to keep up with the leading ones, but also it was so easy to stockpile money in that game. All you need is the Amulet Coin and once you enter the Battle Manor, you're set for the rest of the game. Also, the abundance of people out in the middle of nowhere who heal your Pokémon for free sucks some of the difficulty out of dungeons (including Victory Road). You might want to give Pokemon Black/White or Black2/White2 a shot. It's probably the closest thing to the R/B/Y experience in the series - that's the entire premise the producer of the games had in mind "I wanted players old and new to return to their first experience" - X & Y tried to do too many new things all at once (including be easy) and it kinda fell flat on its face. The game was way too linear, and the experience kind of washed out compared to some of the previous entries, save for the story. That's the only thing Black and White really have going for theirself compared to the others (and the animated Pokemon/Trainers, and World Tournament from B/W 2). RE: Pokémon AlphaOmega and RubySapphire - Mystie - 07-08-2014 Am I the only one here who absolutely LOVED X/Y? X/Y is my new favorite generation. Sure, it was a little too easy, but it had so many great things to offer. A region based on France, a vastly improved online system, much better starters than the previous gen, customizable trainers, a legendary who is a deer with colorful antlers and swords for limbs, the most vile, evil, frightening, and threatening villains in the series to date, the ability to PET AND FEED YOUR POKEMON, a sexy professor, and so much more. Plus, it was way better than the utter disappointment that was Diamond and Pearl. (never played the Black & White games, but I hear they are far better than Diamond and Pearl, so I'll have to give them a try soon) RE: Pokémon AlphaOmega and RubySapphire - Omega - 07-08-2014 the 2nd post has been made as a sort of OP for the thread since Sengir is gone, if theres anything important I missed just let me know. RE: Pokémon AlphaOmega and RubySapphire - DioShiba - 07-08-2014 I will not be surprised when Mega Latias and Mega Latios are confirmed since well, they've already been leaked during the release of X/Y. RE: Pokémon AlphaOmega and RubySapphire - AuraLancer - 07-08-2014 Wasn't there only one model though? They're already doing something weird with Groudon and Kyogre being Primal instead of Mega, maybe the Latis have a fusion mega? RE: Pokémon AlphaOmega and RubySapphire - Omega - 07-08-2014 http://www.pokemon.com/us/pokemon-news/the-secret-is-out-on-super-secret-bases/ secret bases are now stresspassable and can be QR coded! you can also make your own personal gym in'em. RE: Pokémon AlphaOmega and RubySapphire - AuraLancer - 07-08-2014 Man, I love the secret bases. I'm really happy to see this. RE: Pokémon AlphaOmega and RubySapphire - Koh - 07-08-2014 They just made the bases 100 times more interesting. It sort of sounds like they become what the Trainer House was on Heart Gold/Soul Silver. That begs the question though, if the battles will be set up similarly, where you don't gain EXP from the battles. It'd be nice to be able to grind babies off of your buddies, lol. RE: Pokémon AlphaOmega and RubySapphire - Gwen - 07-08-2014 yissssssssssssssssssss RE: Pokémon AlphaOmega and RubySapphire - psychospacecow - 07-08-2014 Does that remind anyone else of that Mighty Quest for Epic Loot game? That's the only thing Black and White really have going for theirself compared to the others (and the animated Pokemon/Trainers, and World Tournament from B/W 2). What honestly makes it any more linear than the other Pokemon games (especially X/Y, lol)? Sure in Gen I and Gen II have like... the ability to go slightly out of order on gym badges (and Gen IV's eastern half was just downright confusing and it's obvious there was a correct path because you got screwed any other path you took) and what difference does that really make to a playthrough? It gives you the option to come back to weaker gym and boringly wipe the floor with them after you spend hours grinding in a place you're not supposed to be yet. I've never understood people's hard-ons for non-linearity in older gens because it literally barely existed, if at all. Also you kind of contradict yourself there by saying that the story is the good thing about this Gen while complaining about "linearity". The reason for having a more controlled path is obviously there to make the story pieces fit together cohesively as you move from area to area. And I really appreciate there being a good in-depth story for once in a Pokemon game. And here's where I turn into a giant fanboy and yell loudly about why Gen V is the best friggin' Gen since sliced Gen III and why I'm sad so many of you skipped it: - The story is fleshed out and in depth and honestly a bit tearjerking for a Pokemon game! Team Plasma and N are such great antagonists, even if maybe the message behind them's a bit ham handed - Your rivals have actual character arcs and development, instead of just being washed out stand-in representations of game mechanics (I'm lookin at your "friends" from X/Y, that's right) - The music is fantastic and the addition of gym-specific remixes of the main gym tune is my favorite thing in BW2 - There were actual differences that meant anything between versions! One town and one area in B/W were different depending on whether you were playing Black or White, and BW2 introduced even more differing areas! (The fact that X/Y didn't keep up on those creative changes is a friggin tragedy. The ease of connectivity between games now means "game exclusives" are virtually pointless, so they really need to come up with more ways to distinguish between versions) - And most importantly, the world actually feels lived in! The towns are all unique and nicely designed. All the gym leaders are all fleshed out and have reputations and relationships that are more than just "da strongest in town" (plus EVERY SINGLE GL comes out of their gym at one time or another). And their respective gyms all have a clear function and isn't just an element-themed puzzle house thrown into a town(one's a mine, one's an art gallery, one's an aircraft hangar). It actually feels like a real world now as opposed to crazy land of Pokemon battle people. Guys I really like Gen V, you should play it. oh and i see that they confirmed secret bases in ORAS while I was typing this so uh... i ain't even mad anymore |
