RE: SchAlternate's Sprites and Sloppy Schedules - SchAlternate - 02-01-2016 So it's been like, what, six whole month since I posted anything here? Actually, it's been a while since I did anything on this site besides lurking. Sup guys. So I did a complete overhaul on these guys. The sprite resolution has been halved, mostly for convenience' sake. Their designs have also been greatly altered, they have a different-ish palette, and they've two new partners over there, a frog dude and a bird lady. Neat (For those curious, their names are Atreyu, Athena, Arthur and Alicia, respectively) The top sprites have a black-ish outline, while the bottom ones have a lighter outline closer to their actual color palette. I think I like the bottom ones better, but I'm still not sure. Also, working on a boss dude. It's a Quetzalcoatl looking guy. Probably a tad over detailed, but I like it. Also yeah, school had me super busy and I'm trying to polish my spriting skills. RE: SchAlternate's Sprites and Sloppy Schedules - Gors - 02-01-2016 maybe bird lady would benefit from a tiny beak-like mouth to further emphasize her bird heritage frog dude is the best one though RE: SchAlternate's Sprites and Sloppy Schedules - SchAlternate - 02-01-2016 (02-01-2016, 07:06 AM)Gors Wrote: maybe bird lady would benefit from a tiny beak-like mouth to further emphasize her bird heritage Thing is, she's not really a bird, but rather a human adopted by harpies. It's sort of like how Samus was adopted by the Chozo. My game has the deepest lore, you know. RE: SchAlternate's Sprites and Sloppy Schedules - Gors - 02-01-2016 s o d e e e e e e p (this is great btw! love the characters) you could give the girl a better stance though, she looks like is leaning backwards a little RE: SchAlternate's Sprites and Sloppy Schedules - SchAlternate - 02-03-2016 I made running sprites. And here's a preview! Look at him go! I actually was working on this animation for quite a while now, but never got to finish it until now. RE: SchAlternate's Sprites and Sloppy Schedules - SchAlternate - 02-11-2016 Working on some background images. This is a sunset over the clouds kind scenery. Still a WIP RE: SchAlternate's Sprites and Sloppy Schedules - Gors - 02-11-2016 (02-03-2016, 03:43 AM)SchAlternate Wrote: I made running sprites. it is uncanny how his hair seems to skew with the hed rotation, like a cardboard. Consider making it flow with the movement. RE: SchAlternate's Sprites and Sloppy Schedules - Venomrabbit - 02-13-2016 (02-03-2016, 03:43 AM)SchAlternate Wrote: I made running sprites. Well, on one or two frames, the hair shading is a bit blocky. Mainly on the first one. Maybe that needs smoothing off too, or maybe you tried that and it looked worse and I'm just an idiot who doesn't know what they're talking about. Other than that and the skewing issue, I can't really find any fault in these! RE: SchAlternate's Sprites and Sloppy Schedules - Ton - 02-14-2016 I think the skewing hair really works for the style, honestly. It's really cool. RE: SchAlternate's Sprites and Sloppy Schedules - SchAlternate - 02-15-2016 Excuse the lateness, life happened. On the subject of Atreyu's hair, I've yet to figure out how animate the damn thing in other ways than just skewing. On the basis that it might fit the artstyle I'm going for, I'll probably not change it too much in the future, but I'll keep everyone's suggestions in mind. Also Venomrabbit I tried to shade the hair in other ways but the current shading is the one that I personally like the most. Anyway, I've been working on the sky background a bit and, well, this occurred. I imagine this background in some sky fortress, where it changes the further you go on through stage. Like say, you start outside the fortress in broad daylight, then as you enter the fortress, you get to the ceiling or on a bridge, where the background changes to a sunset setting. After that, you go though another portion of the building, and then you go outside again, then to be greeted by a starry knight backdrop, and then you fight a boss. And once you defeat the boss, the background slowly turns into a soft, dawn coloration. RE: SchAlternate's Sprites and Sloppy Schedules - SchAlternate - 08-14-2016 It has been a while, huh. I have once again made the sprites smaller than before, since these guys don't have that much detail, so making big sprites would kinda sort of pointless. Added two new guys, this time they are essentially this games' version of Mega Man's robot masters. Also a few crude silhouettes to show upcoming characters. |
