RE: It's a thread now, I guess - x0_000 - 01-19-2016 If you look at the NES Mario sprites (which is what I assume you mean by classic), you'll see that his walking frames have 3 frames to them which cover the basic front to back motion I described earlier (I highlighted the motion in magenta): They take advantage of the ambiguity between the front and back leg to save frames due to having no shading; you'd need at least twice as many frames if you made the front and back legs distinct. RE: It's a thread now, I guess - SuperWarioWorld - 01-20-2016 Oh, no, I meant somethin' like SMB3 or SMAS SMB1. I could definitely make a walk cycle like that SMB1 cycle; I've understood, studied and recreated it a ton before. I don't have a real response to that right now; check back in a bit. Only thing i would add is some head movement(face jiggle/hat flop, which is currently brought up already) (01-19-2016, 05:48 PM)SuperWarioWorld Wrote: They're actually not supposed to be the same style. I just randomly decided to make a different Mario for no reason. Skidding pose is very weird. Still working on it. And maybe keep the arms more stationary and or towards the chest, the pop from the left arm is what is making it jerky. RE: It's a thread now, I guess - SuperWarioWorld - 01-22-2016 I'd prefer to leave that second cycle as-is. For whatever reason, I actually rather like the jerky motion. In any case, it's being replaced; here's a new cycle: It could use some cleaning up in certain areas but it's taken me long enough to get any results. RE: It's a thread now, I guess - x0_000 - 01-22-2016 That looks much better and smoother! |
