They're just breaking away from a name theme this time around. ...That's what I'm assuming anyway. Also, I was really hoping the direct would reveal a new Pokken character. I'm dying to see Emboar or Aggron or Snorlax (someone big and bulky in general) as a playable in the game to balance out all the skinny Pokemon. (I don't get why everyone hates bulky characters so much. I have a soft spot for them. "Bulky" means "takes hits very well" to me while a character that's sleek and skinny reads to me as one that is virtually incapable of taking hits. I also don't get people's obsession with speed. ...But I guess that's off topic.) RE: Pokemon Sun and Moon? - Koh - 02-26-2016 To save you time on searching up and watching the trailer, I'll tell you what it is. -80% nostalgia, just showing stuff from all the old games. -The artist sketching Pikachu. -The logos we've seen leaked. So in other words, the trailer sucks, nothing to talk about until they actually give us something to talk about. RE: Pokemon Sun and Moon? - NICKtendo DS - 02-26-2016 It was not a Nintendo Direct. It was a Pokémon Sun and Moon teaser. Something that should've been part of a Direct, not being the Direct itself padded with "let us remind you the franchise is 20 years old now". Padding for a Direct that's already just 5 minutes long, mind you! RE: Pokemon Sun and Moon? - Kosheh - 02-26-2016 you know what I WANT it'd be really cool if for like the 20th anniversary, Moon and Sun turned out to be actual sequels to Pokemon Red and Blue. "But Kosheh, we got one! It's gen 2! Thank Iwata and his coding prowess for that one!" no no no you got the idea but that's not quite what I mean What I mean is that it's a sequel where literally 20 years have passed since the events of gen 1, there's a furthered knowledge of the study of Pokemon and you play as Red's son and they really make it obvious that Red is your dad. You get Pokemon from your uncle, Dr. Gary Oak, and his grandfather imparts some kind words on you before leaving on your journey and tells you about his legacy and how he's so proud of his grandson who went from a cocky little chump to one of the world's most humbled Pokemon postdoc researchers. :') All the gym leaders acknowledge your dad's greatness and you're constantly living in the shadow of your father until postgame, where you (similarly to how it was done in GSC) find your dad and he actually opens his damn mouth for once before an actually nice ending unfolds with cute cutscenes praising how far you've come, and how it's incredible how proud he is that you've surpassed him and then he comes home and lives happily with you and your mom (Gary's sister rofl) with the closure he's needed all of these years. A porkymans with a feel-good ending :') Of course that won't happen, but a gamer can dream. u_u; RE: Pokemon Sun and Moon? - TomGuycott - 02-26-2016 (02-26-2016, 04:30 PM)Kosheh Wrote: -greatest idea ever- But allow me to offer another spin on it: -Sun version has you follow the son/ daughter of Red, and the ultimate post-main game goal is to beat Blue in a highly public, widely televised event. The idea could be a subtle throwback to how supposedly Professor Oak was to be a powerful adversary in the original games (as I recall data exists with him having Pokemon superior to the champion level Pokemon). -Moon version would basically be as you described meeting Red for a final battle, but you'd be Blue's kids instead (or even still red's, I don't know whether that would make a difference to anyone). The final battle is more somber and introspective, a one on one match in the middle of nowhere. Extra tidbits to the idea: Sun's final battle would be on a sunny day , and Moon's on a moonlit night. Also: to keep people of different versions from feeling snubbed, both Red and Blue could have post-post game super-powered battles available in both versions. RE: Pokemon Sun and Moon? - Omegajak - 02-27-2016 If these games were happening when Boktai and Megaman Battle Network were big we could be doing some SUPER crossover ish. Kosh has the right and Tom sprinkled the icing. Happy Pokemon 20th Anniversary day. MY TAKE: Z still needs to happen. I don't want a world with no Mecha Zyguarde. Also, the big question no one seems to give a shit about: how does this affect GO? That's all I really care about. Why? because unless Kosh's take on the story happens word for word it's still not better than being to go anywhere and catch virtual Pokemon. Sorry that's just honestly how I see and feel. Also Pokemon Stars and or Earth and or Terra needs to be the third installment. Also if they are past making a 3rd game, Crystal is the only 3rd installment that deserves a remake. There. I said it. RE: Pokemon Sun and Moon? - Kosheh - 02-28-2016 Why is a third version even necessary anymore, lol - especially with the remakes? I mean with like the remakes they're usually SO packed with content it doesn't really matter whether they do or don't because they always add a little something extra (gen 1's Orange Islands (?) and Mew, Gen 2's...uhhh, the things? Shit it's gen 2. And Gen 3's Delta storyline) Like, really - nowadays, TPC could theoretically out DLC updates that adds postgame content after launch. y'know, with that story I wrote I originally said "oh hey, why doesn't Red himself come out of retirement (after Gold came and beat his ass silly) and go all around Kanto to stop a Blue who's become the new leader of Team Rocket with Green's help - who's now a Pokemon postdoc researcher and occasionally pushes out items to you giving you support from Pallet", but then I realized that like, gamers probably couldn't handle playing as a 31-year old man who literally left his wife and baby girl at home to engage in A Child's Sport, and being the child of Red (or Blue) would actually make more sense in the Pokemon universe because, uh well it just fucking does btw, just curious on fan theories: Do the Pokemon games, with the exception of GSC, all happen at chronologically the same time, or do they happen at different points in time? I'd say "different points" because there's the 'national pokedex' that acknowledges all the known pokemon at that time, which is updated with each passing generation, but I really wanna believe "all at the same time" ): RE: Pokemon Sun and Moon? - Koh - 02-28-2016 Gen 3's remakes were pretty lacking honestly. A lot of the emerald content was missing, especially the Battle Frontier, which was one of the defining things about Emerald. Instead, we got a copy paste Battle Maison. My hope is the games will be more free form. The worst thing about Black and White was how stupidly linear they were. Unlike the first 2 gens that had branching paths, and thus a choice on what the player wants to do next, Black and White closed off half the circle before the League, meaning you literally went in a straight, zig-zaggy line with no deviations. For a game series that touts exploration as one of its biggest draws, that's pretty shitty. Tell me what about Crystal not in 3D makes sense Kosh. Go on TELL ME. Also don't give TPC too much praise it took them nearly 20 years before I could change my ethnicity and clothing, sorry not sorry I'm not white or asian. or mexican, or androgynous. There are a lot of black people in the world, all over the damn place. I just happen to be one who really cares what I wear because I care about what I wear in real life. I argue you shouldn't even be allowed to travel to some places if you aren't dressed properly looking at you Sinnoh with your fucking half ice everywhere maps. I live in Canada I'm already hard pressed to leave my house at any other time of the year that's not summer. All the games apparently happen at different time. GEn 2 happens 2 years after Gen 1 Gen 3 happens before Gen 2 as mentioned about Red Gyardos showing up at Lake Rage Gen 4 I think takes place after Gen 2 and Gen 1 but sometime around the same time as Gen 3? I have no idea when Gen 5 happens and Gen 6 is apparently before Gen 1 and Gen 2 which is how the explain why Mega evolution was kept under wraps because it was so new people didn't even believe it was happening. So the technology was kept under wraps the events of Gen 6 I think hit main stream now which is why were now getting Gen 7? Also Fuck you Kosh I love ya man, but seriously: I'm not happy till I get Mecha and Dog Zyguarde. Screw your Deoxys screw you Kyureums fuck your Giratina's and I couldn't care less about Mega Mewtwo I want a mecha Pokemon. Why? So I can call it O.Exia short for Omegajak Exia. A world where I can't do that is no world save for the fact Pokemon GO lives up to the hype. Which i am still despondent to the fact people aren't more hyped for. Give them the same shit they've always gotten though? Watch em eat it up. 'Gotta buy em all!' Yeah no thanks, give me a Pokemon Snap App and a real legit TPC pokedex App and put virtual Pokemon outside my everywhere please. I'd rather pout all of my money into things like that. RE: Pokemon Sun and Moon? - AuraLancer - 02-28-2016 A lot of Emerald was missing? No, ALL of it was missing and it was really dumb. They should have kept the Battle Frontier and the battle tents, and used the Emerald Team Magma hideout and events. I'm glad that Steven was the champion again though. RE: Pokemon Sun and Moon? - Helmo - 02-28-2016 I hope pokemon doesn't take 2 steps forwards an one step back again.... here's what pokemon needs: Challenge mode Pokemon World Tournament + Battle Frontier vast differences in each version, not just pokemon but teams, story, and locations too (so magma/aqua type deal plus black city/white forest type thing) combine that with all the great new features of gen 6 like super training and stuff and we're gold weaker pokemon need stat boosts or a new evo/mega, give the shitty ones new abilities or moves just something pokemon center's will probably have the pokemarts in them again but if not... RE: Pokemon Sun and Moon? - SchAlternate - 02-28-2016 Real talk, though, I really, actually, still want Z to happen. Not only because obvious name is obvious, but Kalos can potentially be one of the best regions the series had to offer, but it was watered down because of X&Y. My main gripe with X&Y is that it has introduced a lot of newbie friendly features (new Exp. Share, free Kanto starter, Pokemon Amie and Super Training, etc) and forgot to balance it with an actual challenge. The games allow you to build a very diverse team before facing the second gym (which is fantastic, by the way), but you can't get any advantage from it because the gym leader has two Pokemon, and it never gets any better, even up to the Elite Four. Granted, that was kind of B&W's fault for reducing how many Pokemon Gym Leaders and Elite Fours can have, but it least it made sense back then due to how B&W was designed. That format most definitely does not work in X&Y. Z can easily fix that by making each Gym Leader crazy hard, or have some unique strategies to them that require you to mix up you team to have a clear advantage (taking, well, advantage to the immense amount of Pokemon Kalos has to offer), or, at least, have more than three fucking Pokemon. I'm sure that with that change alone, Kalos could be a much better and memorable region. With Sun and Moon coming out, I have doubts that it may actually happen, but with how much they've been setting up the whole thing about Zygarde back then, and the new season of the anime being XY and Z, maybe there's hope? Lynar was a really disappointing boss of a team. He was super threatening, but he's not even that GOOD. Amp it up TPC. I know kids who run circles around grown ups because of your super training. If you're going to make the focus of EV's stick better to have the whole Gym Leaders line up turnt up. Not even getting Mega stones unlocked is that big a deal. Also you shouldn't just GET a Lucario. You should get a Mega Stone for your starter. Also Z should have following Pokemon. Maybe open up the Safari Zone a bit make it more of like...a Safari Zone? Instead of friends having specific types why not keep that but have like special days where certain pokemon appear in different versions of your friends safari Zones I kinda miss the old Coffee House thing where you can find stuff and talk to people. Make it fun. You guys have the money! AND THE FREE TIME. RE: Pokemon Sun and Moon? - Phantom Killah - 02-29-2016 It would be cool if gym leaders had themes other than types. Like a gym leader who only uses fast pokemon, or one who only uses pokemon with neutral colours (because he hates colour?), or one who has a team built around status effects. Something to force you to think strategically beyond "bring a water type Pokemon" RE: Pokemon Sun and Moon? - Helmo - 02-29-2016 (02-29-2016, 05:56 PM)Phantom Killah Wrote: It would be cool if gym leaders had themes other than types.
