RE: Kurai's Rips - Kurai - 06-21-2016

Double post!

The two recolours at the top aren't actually in the game, but it felt wrong not to make and include them... :I
Also. Otarucean's enemies were a tough rip! Very Sad
They all have black in their sprites but the SAME black is ALSO their transparency and the level background colour! Argh! Who does that?! >_<

I don't think he actually had a name... I googled my butt off but couldn't find any mention of one, but he's a pirate who chews bubblegum and blows bubbles to attack. Bubblegum Buccaneer is a correct description and has alliterative appeal. Big Grin

RE: Kurai's Rips - Kurai - 07-06-2016

I've been doing some ripping from the Genesis version of Bubsy... Should I ignore the things that have already been ripped in the SNES version, since I don't think there's any difference?

RE: Kurai's Rips - Dolphman - 07-07-2016

There is a difference and it boils down to palette limitations. Snes could handle 256 colours while Genesis could only handle 64.
So the enemies were less colourful in the Genesis version compared to the Snes version due to sharing one palette slot.

In a way, you should still go ahead and ripping stuff from it, even if there's minor differences.

RE: Kurai's Rips - Kurai - 07-07-2016

Ah ok, for some reason I always thought it was the other way around. >_<
Makes me wish there were more user friendly SNES tile ripping tools, grabbing from savestates is infuriating. >_<

Right now I'm working on getting the tiles for Cheese Wheels of Doom so I can rebuild it and play as Sonic in it. Tongue

SNES tools would be great.

A couple of NES rips, been experimenting with some of the tools I have, sort of getting to know how it all works. The Aliens fanboy in me could not resist a mysterious Aliens game that was never officially released for the NES. IIRC there's an Alien 3 for the NES as well... And it's not up on TSR! Very Sad

Since this game is so simple, I'm considering whipping up a little remaster in Gamemaker. What y'all think? Tongue

RE: Kurai's Rips - puggsoy - 07-20-2016

Although I haven't played it, I think making remakes/clones of existing games is a really good way to practice. I'd encourage you to do it if you feel like it Smile

RE: Kurai's Rips - Kurai - 07-20-2016

It isn't a very good game at all, but the Alien franchise still makes me warm and fuzzy inside and will be a fun little side project while I work on bigger things. And yeah, every little bit of EXP to level up! Big Grin

RE: Kurai's Rips - Kurai - 01-16-2017

Phew... Been gone for a while. Shocked

So I've been ripping from the Sonic fangame "Sonic Time Attacked". It's an old fangame and has quite a lot of unique sprites and tiles:
Can I submit these? If I did would it be to a new section for the PC game, since there are individual sections for pirates and such, or would it be to Sonic customs (I didn't make these but they are custom Sonic graphics...)?

RE: Kurai's Rips - Magma MK-II - 01-17-2017

Yes, you must make a section specifically for this game.

RE: Kurai's Rips - Kurai - 02-14-2017

Ok, so the Sonic: Time Attacked section and sprite rips was a bust deal. Tongue

But I've ripped a few more traditional sets from High Seas Havoc as well:

And some Domination over Time... Time Ducks!:

RE: Kurai's Rips - Kurai - 08-19-2017

So I recently started ripping Flicky and I was wondering whether I should post the whole level layouts or just the individual tiles:

RE: Kurai's Rips - Davy Jones - 08-19-2017

That's up to you, you can do tiles or levels or both.

RE: Kurai's Rips - Kurai - 08-19-2017

My first instinct is to do levels... Each one being 256x224 in size (256x256 including transparency). Every three rounds (four including bonus rounds, but they're just a black screen with floor tiles) has a unique theme and there are 48 rounds in total.

For sanity's sake I'll upload each set of unique levels along with each unique 16x16 tile to the side, while keeping the exit and the decorative tiles (some of which are reused in different stages) in a separate sheet.
