RE: Nintendo Switch Topic; #byebyenx - Shade - 10-20-2016 Interesting. I feel slightly better than neutral about it so far; it looks okay. Viper pretty much covered most of my concerns, so I'll just say: "Let's see what happens and maybe get some good games." RE: Nintendo Switch Topic; #byebyenx - BullockDS - 10-20-2016 "Switch" is a bit of a goofy name, but I'll absolutely go with it. It's better than "WiiU" (still disappointed with it not being "NX" but it's not a HUGE downfall IMO). RE: Nintendo Switch Topic; #byebyenx - TomGuycott - 10-20-2016 Yeah, I'd be all about portable Skyrim. Aside from that and Zelda (which had REALLY awesome looking giant enemies), I noticed new looking stuff for Mario and for Splatoon, making it seem like they are planning to release something for it near launch hopefully. Mario looked more or less like 3D World, which would be fine with me, I loved it, but I also hope it has co-op play like 3D World had. My biggest concern right now is whether or not it will offer the ability for multiplayer with multiple controllers. It would suck to be relegated to those credit-card sized mini controllers. RE: Nintendo Switch Topic; #byebyenx - Hiynastrike - 10-20-2016 EXCITE! I personally love it, it's finally happened, I could finally play a console game on a handheld. If Fallout 4 gets re-released for it I could dick around in Nuclear Boston while sitting around in real world BOSTON! RE: Nintendo Switch Topic; #byebyenx - TomGuycott - 10-20-2016 Rewatching the footage, that Mario game looks reaaally dope. Also, it seems to be cartridge based, and they look pretty small (though larger than a 3DS cart). I wonder whether that entails any sort of graphical limitations. It's worth noting that in handheld mode there's probably drops in graphical quality and framerate. It looks particularly choppy during the Zelda segment. RE: Nintendo Switch Topic; #byebyenx - Skyla Doragono - 10-20-2016 I really like this -- I've been screaming on plruk about it for the past 20 minutes lol. I've said before that instead of focusing on two touch screens, Sony should have made the Vita a system that could be a console and a handheld, because it has the internals to make it work and look gorgeous on a TV screen. And it just would have made better sense?! Now here's Nintendo going around and doing exactly that. I'm waiting for the printing money memes to come back. RE: Nintendo Switch Topic; #byebyenx - BullockDS - 10-20-2016 EDIT: This "Pro" Controller fixes my hugest issue with the WiiU's. Now the secondary stick and face buttons are back where they belong. That Home button seems a bit too close to that secondary stick though... RE: Nintendo Switch Topic; #byebyenx - Skyla Doragono - 10-20-2016 Yeah, I was just talking about the 3rd party support too. The fact that at its core, the system is a very basic system will make it easier for other developers to make games for it. All the gimmick is in the operation of the sustem, not the operation of the games themselves. RE: Nintendo Switch Topic; #byebyenx - Koopaul - 10-20-2016 But I still wonder if the controller is a touch screen. If there isn't a touch screen like the one on the Wii U makes me wonder how players are going to Squid Jump around the map in the new Splatoon (port?). Maybe they'll just get rid of the Squid Jump all together. This won't necessarily be the case because of cartridges themselves, but rather, just how much storage space a cartridge can have. If they have like, a 100 GB cartridge for example, the graphics could be as good as the system itself can handle. But if the cartridge is only like, 10 GB, corners will need to be cut to have enough space for everything else. Think about it like early NES games like Zelda 1, which was very bland looking and had little cartridge space, compared to later NES games like Crystalis, which had more overworld detail, bigger sprites and more cartridge space. RE: Nintendo Switch Topic; #byebyenx - BullockDS - 10-20-2016 promo photos I really hate the name "Joy-Con" TBH. Sounds super dirty to me. Also, a thought occurs: anyone else SUPER worried about the Dock potentially scratching the screen while putting it in? A build-in screen cover on the portable for this sort of thing would be nice. And if the supposed devkit (that's been floating around the past couple days) is to be believed and applicable to the final product, we might be saying goodbye once and for all to non-HDMI video outputs. Why not just do like the Wii U dock and have it sit on top rather than inside? (probably because people would complain about the screen not being usable in dock mode, so this makes it so you can't even SEE the screen, rendering those points moot) RE: Nintendo Switch Topic; #byebyenx - iyenal - 10-20-2016 Nintendo Switch... Emm... It's a controller cover ?... No it's a console. Joy-Con... An gaming convention ?... No it's a controller cut in three. Names aren't well chosed. RE: Nintendo Switch Topic; #byebyenx - Koopaul - 10-20-2016 I have two worries. Battery life, and the system overheating as a portable. See most portables don't need a fan but consoles do. Will they be able to fit a proper fan in that really thin screen? If not. How wil they keep it from overheating? And this thing looks like it can suck up huge amounts of battery life. RE: Nintendo Switch Topic; #byebyenx - Filler - 10-20-2016 This console actually looks pretty neat. I'm just worried that since it looks so small, it might NOT have decent hardware. Or they're going to have to make it pretty expensive. |
