RE: PokémonJRPG Large-Scale Fangame for PC - Lucas Olivarde - 04-15-2009 I would be so down to at least attempt this. I'll tell you that even with a ton of awesome spriters, you won't be getting anywhere with a complex style (four shades? WHAT that isn't very pretty either tbh) and one thats so big. Make it atleast a little more simple and bring down the size. Ingame is 2D sprites on a 3D map. Think the Nippon Ichi games or Ragnarok Online. ...Which have sprites much much smaller than what we have (Disgaea, anyway). Which is fine; what we don't want is larger. :V RE: PokémonJRPG Large-Scale Fangame for PC - Vipershark - 04-15-2009 just wondering who are those characters in the OP post I can see who gold is but who are the other 3 also is gold a guy he doesn't look like it RE: PokémonJRPG Large-Scale Fangame for PC - mozzy - 04-15-2009 I think the one who has her hand on his neck is May The farthest left is Dawn and I think the right is Crystal RE: PokémonJRPG Large-Scale Fangame for PC - Skink - 04-15-2009 (04-15-2009, 07:18 PM)Vipershark Wrote: also is gold a guy he doesn't look like it Hey it's Anime. It happens alot. RE: PokémonJRPG Large-Scale Fangame for PC - Shawn - 04-15-2009 looks like dawn(platina), may(sapphire), gold and blue to me. also golds hair is too clean this angers me grr. whenever hes seen without his hat he has spiky hair RE: PokémonJRPG Large-Scale Fangame for PC - Solstice - 04-16-2009 Is the sprite going to get a makeover? I personally think it does. If you don't mind I could probably edit(or do my own) the sprite to lead to an easier style direction if you want. I usually do stuff around that size. RE: PokémonJRPG Large-Scale Fangame for PC - GrooveMan.exe - 04-16-2009 That would be much appreciated. My enthusiasm to assist the project superseeded me realising that I'm useless. RE: PokémonJRPG Large-Scale Fangame for PC - Shadowth117 - 04-16-2009 Wow I love the idea of this project, but unfortunately I'm no good at spriting. Just thinking about how many sprites you'd have to make for this anyway scares me. That is, if you want to make the animations smooth. Also maybe this is just my opinion, but for a 3D game aren't the sprites you already made a bit small? What screen resolution is this game being made for? RE: PokémonJRPG Large-Scale Fangame for PC - GrooveMan.exe - 04-16-2009 Actually not at all. 3D games with sprites just scale the sprites up if the game is played larger than native resolution. It's why games like Paper Mario (and the aforementioned Disgaea and Ragnarok Online) have rather small sprites upon being ripped, but look huge on a huge TV. RE: PokémonJRPG Large-Scale Fangame for PC - Shadowth117 - 04-16-2009 All right. I'm just saying sometimes the stretching looks bad sometimes on the sprites if they're too small. I suppose it also depends on how the engine renders them. All that aside good luck on this project. I like the concept and it looks like they've got everything organized well enough so that the whole project isn't going to fall apart later on. I'm definitely looking forward to it. RE: PokémonJRPG Large-Scale Fangame for PC - JoshR691 - 04-16-2009 This is an...interesting spin on Pokemon RE: PokémonJRPG Large-Scale Fangame for PC - Novalse - 04-16-2009 I don't really like the idea. I'd rather have a pikachu as a pokemon, not a pair of shoes. And the idea of catching souls, it makes me think this is an anti-pokemon game. This would be a lot better if it wasn't pokemon. Sorry, but, I just don't think pokemon should be used this way. RE: PokémonJRPG Large-Scale Fangame for PC - GrooveMan.exe - 04-16-2009 We get that a lot. For the most part, it's of no consequence to the game mechanics, and Pokémon in this are far less friendly. When they tell kids not to wander out into the long grass without a Pokémon (weapon), they goddamn mean it. Only gifted people are badass enough to tame a Pokémon to be partners without soul extraction. RE: PokémonJRPG Large-Scale Fangame for PC - Novalse - 04-16-2009 okay. I probably will play it, heck I'll play any game that has pokemon in it. I would also like to try making sprites of some pokemon, and maybe draw some of the weapons. is there a way i can try out? I would also need more info on the style... |
