I think it made me want to do this. Also it was fun to use the nozzles, for example jumping off of the Giant Shine thing and diving into water. Also I liked the Yoshi to the island task thing, I kept falling in the water... oh and Yoshi, I miss riding Yoshi. RE: What's In a Sequel? - LilGrim1991 - 06-04-2008 I had a dream of a a really wide-scope of a game, with a castle actually being as big as one, theres tons of doors, some with 3D levels, some where you can play classic NES Mario's, and the online was this vast terrain (you know, inside the garden station with the rolling green hills and the blue skies folding off into the distance, thats how it was) where you could be anyone in the Mario universe. =D RE: What's In a Sequel? - keroromario - 06-04-2008 Ark Kuvis Wrote:Guys. Yeah... But not a lot of people think of Sunshine as a "true sequel" to SM64. And they're right. After looking at the polls for my thread, they consider Galaxy bad too... Am I missing something? RE: What's In a Sequel? - Dear President Seinfeld - 06-04-2008 galaxy straight up sucks. mario 64 owned because it had a hub world that you could explore and find secret areas in. galaxy had a tiny hub area that you could go to other galaxies in, which sucked. also fucking comets are bullshit RE: What's In a Sequel? - Badassbill - 06-04-2008 lick my nick Wrote:galaxy straight up sucks. mario 64 owned because it had a hub world that you could explore and find secret areas in. galaxy had a tiny hub area that you could go to other galaxies in, which sucked. also fucking comets are bullshit Thank fuck someone pointed this out. I hated how the hub wasn't a level its self. RE: What's In a Sequel? - mozzy - 06-04-2008 I loved super mario sunshine so much, totally underated. RE: What's In a Sequel? - keroromario - 06-05-2008 ..........................OK.... RE: What's In a Sequel? - Ngamer01 - 06-06-2008 I wouldn't call Galaxy crap. It just doesn't hold up to Super Mario 64. In fact Sunshine didn't hold up against Mario 64 either. In Super Mario 64, the castle (and outside grounds) were a level itself, you could collect the Power Stars in any order you choose (some stars may be inaccessible until you trigger something elsewhere), and after you beat the game you could mess around for no reason in the levels. Super Mario Sunshine just felt like a tropical rehash of Mario 64. It just didn't bring anything new to the Mario platforming genre. It was just more of the same. Super Mario Galaxy has a limited hub area, you have to collect the Power Stars in order, and you can't mess around in the levels for no reason after beating the game (no Flying Stars, invisible walls that divide up the level into fragments, and those damn Black Holes...). Don't forget all planets have the same gravity. Nintendo could have made different gravity fields for the different planets. Also you don't get anything for collecting all the Power Stars other than Super Weegee Galaxy (really Luigi should have been playable from the start...then you could have played Galaxy like the Lost Levels). Finally the game is too easy. Sure some Power Stars may be difficult to get, but not impossible. Plus all the other stars and bosses are cakewalks. RE: What's In a Sequel? (Revised) - Lotos - 06-06-2008 The only reason why I thought it was empty because I could beat it easily, but the previous two Mario installments were challenging. Also, Luigi's part was repetitive. I don't want to do the same story again for that secret level! RE: What's In a Sequel? (Revised) - Sol - 06-06-2008 Eh, I'd prefer a 3D platformer Mario game in the vein of Mario 64, but with different lands to travel to, much like Super Mario Bros. 3. Take the environments of SMB3 and SMW and turn them 3D, that's the game I'd want. I'd want a story, and I'd definitely want multiple playable characters. I mean, Luigi was a secret character in Galaxy, but if they had him and Mario as playable characters from the start in the next game, both with slightly different abilities, that would make things interesting. Perhaps they could actually USE all the different characters they have for something important? I don't know. RE: What's In a Sequel? So you just go from point A to point B like in the old games except it's in a 3D environment, right? Kinda like playing through a level of Super Paper Mario in 3D with a better camera angle and better level design and less ugly? That'd be cool. Actualy, when you get all the stars with mario, you get to play the game through AGAIN with luigi. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3eeeDTL5dOI&feature=related Yoder Wrote:Although they probably won't for a while, Nintendo will probably make a sequel to Galaxy eventually. That'd be kind of creepy. What about like, a side-scrolling sequel of galaxy for ds? kinda like NSMB. EDIT: I didn't see the post before me when I made this. RE: What's In a Sequel? (Revised) - TPoe - 07-04-2008 I think it would be cool if they made a game that was sort of a mix between super Mario 64 and DK 64 whit the changeable characters that allow you do do things the other characters can't, accept with Mario, characters.
