For the sake of re-establishing Mega Man's good name, it'd be wise for them to offer it on PSN and XBLA.

So wait, with all this epic beautiful artistically perfect crap going on with ALL modern games, why would they make this in 2D, and 8-bit, besides for reasons of Nostalgia? Didn't 2D gaming kinda die....like forever ago?

Because you touch yourself at night.

hey captain clever it's because graphics aren't everything

RE: Rumor:Megaman 9 - Afr0Blu3 - 06-27-2008

I find many 8 bit games to be more graphically impressive than a lot of modern games, mainly because I've been learning how they're made, and modelling is a fair bit easier than you'd think, a lot of the details in modern games are cheated using bump maps and texture maps, not actually featuring on the original base mesh. For example, the base mseh for Gollum in the LOTR movies took approximately eight hours. With 8 bit graphics you're constantly battling with a low screen resolution, having to draw every pose, rather than being able to rig and move a 3D object, having a limited colour palette, the fact that the games still look as good as they do is nothing short of amazing and I really respect the effort involved. I'd add that you should bear in mind that this is just my personal opinion, but I'll likely get flamed none-the-less.

2D gaming, gameplay wise, was very much the norm years ago, and because it was so widely spread, it became rather bland - allowing few games to really stand out. In the current slew of FPS shooters, an old school, 2D platformer could be a breath of much needed fresh air. Going back to basics, back to where we started, to remember why we fell in love with the series in the first place.

That said, you can guess I have high hopes for this game and eagerly anticipate it. I will definately buy it. Just to see if it proves my point.

Wow, I sure asked for that one.

Well, I was just noticing that none of the new Mario, Legend of Zelda, Sonic, ect. games, none of them are 8-bit or 16-bit, so why do it with Megaman? 'twas just a naive observation...

RE: Rumor:Megaman 9 - PrettyNier - 06-27-2008

Very naive and kind of missing the point~

RE: Rumor:Megaman 9 - kyrtuck - 06-27-2008

Well taht didn't really answer my question. Why haven't other series done new games in 8-bit or 16-bit? Everyone here is so excited about Megaman doing it, why wouldn't it work with other franchises?

RE: Rumor:Megaman 9 - Ton - 06-27-2008

When you have to work with limitations such as colors and movement, it makes the final product more artistic and impressive. It makes their designs more memorable. Do you think Mario or Sonic or Pac Man or anyone would look the way they do today if not for initial limitations? Limits yield creativity.

RE: Rumor:Megaman 9 - kyrtuck - 06-27-2008

okay okay, I get it now. Sorry.

The fact is that they probably should consider a move like Capcom is making (provided it is successful). A change will help all of those franchises, seeing as their newer games are all a bit lacking.

haha wow this is the most ignorant post in the history of forever

RE: Rumor:Megaman 9 - balladofwindfishes - 06-29-2008

Mario wouldn't look at all the way he did without limitations considering Miyamoto didn't know how to animate hair, and it thought it was easier to see a face with a mustache. Sick

RE: Rumor:Megaman 9 - siteboy3456 - 06-29-2008

i think that this is like a remake of the old megaman brought back to life and i beleve it comes out late 2008 or late 2009 i can't rember what X-play said
