RE: Donkey Kong Country 3 rips - Ton - 11-22-2009 Excellent! RE: Donkey Kong Country 3 rips - granville - 11-22-2009 EDIT- rip now completed. Thanks! And I follow up with a rip of Bjorn (Benny's twin brother). His cabin is based on the other one with a couple of changes. I could use the same pulley at least, no differences there. Bjorn himself looks almost identical, except that he has a bit of a different palette. Bjorn is gray, where Benny is a yellow. http://www.spriters-resource.com/community/attachment.php?aid=3118 We'll see what else i can dig up in this game. EDIT- looks like Baffle (the code cracking bear in the Kaos castle world) hasn't been ripped. I'll rip him in a little bit and update here. Dunno if there are other bears besides that, i'll check. But that SHOULD be the last of them. RE: Donkey Kong Country 3 rips - A.J. Nitro - 11-22-2009 Yay, more bears! We've been needing those, too. RE: Donkey Kong Country 3 rips - granville - 11-23-2009 I wanted to say not to submit the Bears yet. I missed several frames of the bears when they talk. Their mouths and hand gestures have more animation that just the idle animation. I'm sorry for that, fixing as soon as possible. Yeah, I've always been fond of the Brothers Bear crew! I've just ripped Baffle, who was dead easy, only a few frames of animation and some background layers. And really, that's the first time I noticed he has a ponytail. I know they're all brothers, but that's not even a very masculine ponytail. lol! Oh well, they changed his look in the GBA version, so i guess he's a dude (god I hate what they did to them in DKC3GBA). By the way, I did notice that some of the pixels on the bookshelf appear transparent. This apparently was also the case in the original, you could see the dark background behind it. So I guess people can edit it to their liking, just fill in a couple of pixels. I wanted to keep it consistent with the original game. (done rambling, i'll see what else i have to rip, think the bears are done now) EDIT- Wow, I forgot Barter AND Boomer, the bear near K3 and the one in the lost world... >_> Guess they're next, hope I can get all the animations on Boomer's gear contraption. And I think Boomer's Cabin's palette changes after you collect all the cogs, so i'll have to progress through the game a little to get both palettes. EDIT 2- Until I can get a save file to rip the other frames for a couple of other bears, I have finished the Barter Bear rip, which SHOULD definitely have all the parts to it, so it's ok to post. Here it is- RE: Donkey Kong Country 3 rips - granville - 11-24-2009 Still working hard to get up to the other sprites in the game. Until then, I have another new rip: Boomer Bear from the Lost World- This one was kind of harder than the others. His cabin has two different palettes- one normal one, and the red tinted one which actually happens to all levels after the Nautilus rises. Had to get a couple of different saves to be able to rip them all, but seems to have paid off nicely. Even the objects in his cabin change a little when the Nautilus rises. He replaces his detonator button with a fan. And I don't think that large gear icon was ripped yet (bottom middle). It appears onscreen as a normal HUD item does (like coins and such), so I guess it actually belongs in the item rip, but oh well. It's only used in the Lost World anyways, and only for Boomer, so I guess it will do well enough on this sheet with the rest of the gears. Anyways, I still need to rip a couple of frames for Bjorn and Baffle. I have to progress a little bit through the game to get up to their parts though, so it might take a little time. Sorry for the inconvenience. RE: Donkey Kong Country 3 rips - Ton - 11-24-2009 Looking good. It's no inconvenience. You're doing us a favor. RE: Donkey Kong Country 3 rips - granville - 11-26-2009 Thanks for understanding. I now have Bjorn's complete rip, and all that is left is Baffle (I think). Here's Bjorn's completed rip, ready for submission- I couldn't find any saves near Razor Ridge, and i'm not as good at playing with a keyboard as i'd like to be. So I sucked up and used some game genie cheats to make rushing through the game more manageable. I should be able to reach Baffle soon, but for now, enjoy the Bjorn rip. In other news, I did a quick rip of the barrel platforms in the level Barrel Drop Bounce. I'm not sure what to do with it yet, but i might do a misc item rip with some barrels and such that are missing from current rips. I think there were some disappearing ghost-like barrels nobody has ripped yet. And i might rip some of the World Map objects such as level flags and such. Here's the rip for the barrel platforms though, which you may use how you want. I might update it later with other barrels (ghost barrels, and the rocket barrels). RE: Donkey Kong Country 3 rips - Ton - 11-30-2009 You should probably make a Miscellaneous sheet like this: http://www.spriters-resource.com/snes/dkc/sheet/15937 That way we get all the random stuff in one place. RE: Donkey Kong Country 3 rips - granville - 11-30-2009 I agree. I'll probably do just that. Of course, I'll need to be fairly thorough in the work and make sure i've gotten everything. It will take some time. Not that hard to do, just time consuming. And i've been busy lately, so sorry for not fixing the Baffle rip yet. Real life and I have a job too. I'll try to update here soon with whatever I can do. BTW, not sure if Tonberry noticed, but i did finish the World Map rip if he wants to upload it. Just saying since it wasn't uploaded yet- http://www.spriters-resource.com/community/attachment.php?aid=3091 RE: Donkey Kong Country 3 rips - Frario - 12-01-2009 if you do the secret ending of DKC2, you'd make me a happy inner child RE: Donkey Kong Country 3 rips - Ton - 12-01-2009 Whoops. I've got the map saved now. RE: Donkey Kong Country 3 rips - MoneyMan - 12-01-2009 you would make me a happy moneyman if you could rip the GBA DKC games too RE: Donkey Kong Country 3 rips - granville - 12-02-2009 I'm definitely doing the DKC2 secret ending. I'll probably rip the secret boss fight background too, it has some animations i'd like to get. I don't intend to rip the GBA versions though, sorry. I hate to be a dumbass, but i've always hated what they did to the graphics of those. What they kept from the originals looks a horrid mess of resized and washed out graphics, and what they added rarely looked any good. I'm going to stick with the SNES games. RE: Donkey Kong Country 3 rips - TomGuycott - 12-02-2009 You'd be my idol if you ripped the background to the secret boss fight of DKC2. RE: Donkey Kong Country 3 rips - granville - 12-02-2009 You're in luck! I just happen to have a rip ready of the secret boss arena. You'll have to excuse the lack of a Kaptain K Rool rip, all of his sprites (even the ones used here) are included in another rip, so I didn't bother with him. This one isn't very big, but it's nice- I'm working on the secret ending now, which should be too hard, already have most of the basics, just need to rip some objects and such. I haven't forgotten DKC3 of course, but i don't have the time at this moment to progress to the parts I missed. Sorry, i'll get to it as soon as i can. I found a completed save file for DKC2, so these rips were readily available to me without playing through the game. |
