RE: Recommend RPGs - Vipershark - 11-24-2009 unless you've updated your wii, forget virtual console and get the homebrew channel. for wiiware games, just download their .WAD files and you never have to use the Wii Shop channel again. RE: Recommend RPGs - PrettyNier - 11-24-2009 vipershark you're such a .wad RE: Recommend RPGs - Helmo - 11-24-2009 Dragon Warrior Monsters, any game. RE: Recommend RPGs - Omegajak - 11-24-2009 (11-24-2009, 04:47 PM)Lunyka Wrote: Get a PS2 Then follow up with Tales of Abyss Persona 3-4, Odin Sphere's good too for Action RPG. If you see something Nippon Ichi and they tell you it's an RPG buy it. Those people know what they're doing. That ought to keep you busy. RE: Recommend RPGs - Rhyme - 11-24-2009 (11-24-2009, 04:47 PM)Lunyka Wrote: Get a PS2 I'm going to give you a +1 for having disgaea in that list. but it's better on psp, imo RE: Recommend RPGs - Cobalt Blue - 11-24-2009 Dragon Quest RE: Recommend RPGs - Vipershark - 11-25-2009 DQ3 and DQ8 were the best imo the only problem with the dragon quest games is that they force you to relentlessly grind. Cross a single bridge, and enemy levels jump by at least 5. RE: Recommend RPGs - GrooveMan.exe - 11-25-2009 DQ5 isn't bad in that regard. I only had to grind at the start, since I was WAY too low; and then all the other bosses were just a matter of having the right setup. RE: Recommend RPGs - Ultimecia - 11-25-2009 Do yourself a favor and buy a PS2, freaking amazing system for RPGs Playstation 1 (you can play them on PS2 or emulate on computer) Breath of Fire IV Final Fantasy VII (passable IMO) Final Fantasy VIII (my personal favorite) Final Fantasy IX Persona 2 : Innocent Sin (there's a fan translation) Persona 2 : Eternal Punishment (play it after playing the one above) Tales of Phantasia (there's a fan translation too) Tales of Destiny Vagrant Story Wild Arms 2 Playstation 2 Disgaea Disgaea 2 Final Fantasy X (you can skip FFX-2, but if you're open-minded you can try it) Grandia 2 Shadow Hearts (must play before the next one) Shadow Hearts Covenant (my favorite PS2 title) Tales of the Abyss Gamecube Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles (a game to play when you got nothing else to do) Tales of Symphonia Wii Final Fantasy Fables : Chocobo Dungeon (simple but more fun than I imagined) Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World (also known as Tales of Symphonia 2) Now for emulators/virtual console, whatever SNes Bahamut Lagoon (fan-translation) Chrono Trigger (there's also a PS1 and a DS port) Dragon Quest (all you can find) Live a Life (fan-translation) Lufia & the Fortress of Doom Lufia II : The Rise of the Sinistrals Ogre Battle - The March of the Black Queen Romancing SaGa 3 Shin Megami Tensei (fan-translations, also known as Digital Devil Saga) Terranigma Genesis/Mega Drive Phantasy Star II (a wonderful game, but hard as hell) Phantasy Star IV - The End of the Millenium (one of the best RPGs ever, and I don't like space themes very much) Gameboy Advance Breath of Fire 2 Final Fantasy Dawn of Souls (Final Fantasy I and II. I recommend using gameshark on II, the level up system is shit) Final Fantasy IV Advance (I like it better than the DS, but you can try both) Final Fantasy V Advance Final Fantasy VI Advance Final Fantasy Tactics Advance Summon Night Sword of Mana RE: Recommend RPGs - Cobalt Blue - 11-25-2009 Hows that Phantasy Star(Generations of Doom i believe its the name) where you have to play as the hero, then chooose a girl to marry, and then play as the son of the hero? (in terms of quality, i mean) RE: Recommend RPGs - Ultimecia - 11-25-2009 The idea of the game is good, but everything is kinda... Broken. Bad programing, the game should have around only 5 sets of tiles, annoying dungeons, plot holes everywhere, under-developed characters by the end... I ripped all the playable characters so I played with ALL generations, so, yeah, believe me. It's Phantasy Star III: Generations of Doom. But I enjoyed the first generation (Rhys) and Ayn's (when he marries Maya) is cool. RE: Recommend RPGs - Cobalt Blue - 11-25-2009 you just inspired me to play PS IV as soon as i get time. RE: Recommend RPGs - Ultimecia - 11-25-2009 Please, do so. One of the best RPGs ever conceived. When I ripped it I only got to enjoy it even more. RE: Recommend RPGs - Maxpphire - 11-27-2009 Another thing I'm adding to the "Get a PS2" list is Phantom Brave. It's from the makers of Disgaea and equally as awesome. RE: Recommend RPGs - LeleleleMAXIMUM - 11-27-2009 (11-24-2009, 04:07 PM)GrooveMan.exe Wrote: Get MAME and play Dungeons & Dragons: Shadow Over Mystara.fixed And Valkyrie Profile for the PSP Everything else has been mentioned. |
