RE: Warm up the Sonic Cycle - Asther - 05-22-2011

pokemon and chao garend is a lot different. theres breeding different types, but pokemon there are only speceific types and you cant get in between.

RE: Warm up the Sonic Cycle - Kriven - 05-22-2011

I'm not much for a lengthy Pokemon endeavor, but I can spend a full day in the Chao Garden of SA2 and still want more.

Just sayin'.

RE: Warm up the Sonic Cycle - Azure-Tranquility - 05-23-2011

they have their similarities but to say they are the same experience is ignorant(no offense).

RE: Warm up the Sonic Cycle - Garamonde - 05-23-2011

Chao and Pokemon are two completely different experiences to me.

RE: Warm up the Sonic Cycle - Azure-Tranquility - 05-23-2011

You're still essentially "raising" something. Pokemon is more battle oriented though, while Chao Garden is a more traditional pet sim.

You know, the Chaos Garden could have been a game all on its own... but instead they bundle it with both Sonic Adventures.

It might have helped boost the quality of those two titles.

Digimon (specially), Pokemon, Chao Garden, they're all based upon Tamagotchis.

Can we drop this now?

RE: Warm up the Sonic Cycle - TomGuycott - 05-23-2011

And Tamagotchis were based on Goetic demon summoning.

Seriously though, I'd be all for an enhanced Chao Garden experience. Hell, if they did it right they could probably make a whole game out of those little bastards.

I honestly would buy the hell out of that if it ever existed. Sometimes it feels like most of the reason I actually play SA2 stages is to get things for my Chao.

Surprise This. This, is, me. I have a system that goes like this: Get animal(s) and gone. When I'm using dark characters my list is like this:

Egg Quarters for 2 Half Fishes to raise swim and other stats.
Sky Rail for 2 Condors and 2 Bears for fast Fly and Power + a little Run.
Cosmic Wall for 2 Rabbits.
Radical Highway for 2 Seals for when I'm trying to evolve a Swimming Chao.
And then I think I rush through Sand Ocean for 2 Skeleton Dogs to finish my last bit of Run and clear animal parts from Chao.

For Hero I do it like this:

Hidden Base for 2 Half Fishes, 2 Otters, and 2 Tigers.
Pyramid Cave for the 2 Condors.
Pumpkin Hill for 2 Skeleton Dogs.

I don't lose my animals to the Chao all that often but it happens so if you're like me then my regular routine is about the easiest and fastest way to go.

RE: Warm up the Sonic Cycle - Shadowth117 - 05-23-2011

Before I played the Chao Garden to death and started going for high scores and speed runs on stages more than anything else in that game, I remember going through levels only hunting for specific chaos drives and animals. I remember one time a friend and I spent a bunch of time trying to plan a way to get the most rings from a level so that we could save up for all the stuff from the shop. I also pitting my chao against some friends' chao in race and cockfighting karate and having a ton of fun with everyone putting up their prized chao against each other.

RE: Warm up the Sonic Cycle - Garamonde - 05-23-2011

I had Chao that had 3000+ in at least one stat. A few had two stats with 3000+. One was Swimming, one was Flying, one was Running, one was Power, and one was Stamina... and they were all extremely old. I think one was 15 Chao years or close to it, like the rest. I spent most of my time in the Dark Garden. Cute (These Chao are old so the names are... kiddish) The Swimming Chao was Zoomer, Flying was Dusky, Running was Chasm, Power was Rotten (he had a normal egg shell on his head, so rotten egg Tongue), and Stamina was Spooky with a skull on his head.

RE: Warm up the Sonic Cycle - Vipershark - 05-23-2011

I try to only give my chao chaos drives and no animals

I'd rather have a small increase in one stat rather than a large increase in one and a decrease in another

Yeah, but have you ever had a Red Shadow Chao? (With NO legs)
Can't do that shit without animals.

RE: Warm up the Sonic Cycle - Shadowth117 - 05-24-2011

The legendary animals like the dead dog (Never learned the name for it), the dragon, and phoenix and such actually didn't subtract stats if I recall.

And yeah, the bats were awesome for making your chao legless.

RE: Warm up the Sonic Cycle - Azure-Tranquility - 05-24-2011

Skeleton Dogs... man those were considered a delicacy for me and my bro back in the hey day of Chao Garden.

Pumpkin Hill's theme would forever be instilled in out brains... you know he's the fighting freak Knuckles
