RE: Super Smash Bros. 4 Model Project - Plino - 06-29-2015 Hi, I'd like to put in requests for Robin (male preferably) Chrom (his model used in Robin's victory poses / final smash) I was wondering what differences there were between the 3DS models and the Wii U ones? As far as I know they both use the same models, but the 3DS downgrades the graphics and cuts polygons when running, since if you go into training and set it to 1/4 speed when holding L, the models will be of noticeably higher quality while the game is "paused". Nintendo made completely different sets for both the Wii U and 3DS versions, not even the UV mapping is close to being the same, only the bone structures are. Compare the 3DS model with the Wii U model for Mega Man and you'll see there's a load of differences. Even the Wii U version has a model set for certain characters like that, which are (as far as I know) used for 8-Player Smash. RE: Super Smash Bros. 4 Model Project - Plino - 06-30-2015 Ah, I see. So if I'm understanding you correctly, its sort of like with figures, where rather than there being a single "hand model" that is manipulated into different poses, the 3DS will use multiple hand models, each with a static pose (i.e. clenched fist for holding a weapon is swapped out with an open hand when picking up an item with that hand)? I'm guessing this is less exhaustive on the hardware, which is why it's used for 3DS and 8-player Smash? The process is called morphing. 2 models with an equal amount of vertices are interpolated to change shape from one to another. It's less costly than processing vertex skinning (rigging, basically), so it does make for a bit of extra performance especially when you have a lot of models on screen that need to be processed. RE: Super Smash Bros. 4 Model Project - Onmishift - 06-30-2015 Or explain what to do. Oh, okay! First, you need 3DS Max. DO NOT USE A 3DS MAX VERSION ABOVE 2014. They will not work correctly with the MaxScript, as for some reason there are some MaxScript changes in 2015 onwards. If you don't already have 3DS Max, you can get a perfectly functioning version (legitimately) here: http://www.autodesk.com/education/free-software/3ds-max Don't worry about the 3-year licence thing, you can just install the other compatible versions. NOTE: You need an account Second, download the script here: http://www.mediafire.com/?5c7ladqsagd7ct1 Just extract the scripts to a new folder. Then, download the model files here: https://www.mediafire.com/?e7tacds6nrot6#e7tacds6nrot6 You can also download animations from here, but I don't know what program they're for. After that, open 3DS Max, and go into the MaxScript section in the menu bar (the one with Edit, Tools, etc.) Click on Run Script. Now, navigate to the script needed. Versions 2012 to 2014 need the 2012 script, otherwise bones don't work properly. Then, once the script is loaded, click on the checkbox, and then click on "Import Model". Navigate to the model file you want, and open it. Your model will be loaded! RE: Super Smash Bros. 4 Model Project - lsmash - 07-01-2015 I saw no assist trophies in the mediafire folder...are they harder to rip? Edit: found them already...
