RE: Metroid: Other M - TomGuycott - 09-07-2010 I'm calling you out here Koopaul. In the context of how they looked onscreen on the SNES, all the creatures I've seen in Other M looked grittier in Super Metroid. Another thing is Ridley's new design... his beak and his grotesque muscle arms make him look laughable rather than menacing. Here's the kind of character the Super Metroid Ridley reminded me of: And this is what Other M Ridley reminds me of: You're entitled to your opinion, but in my perspective, that opinion is wrong. RE: Metroid: Other M - Koopaul - 09-08-2010 The limited graphics fooled you then. These were their intended designs and they stayed true to them. The Zoomers and Shriekbats and many others. But yes Ridley was pretty awful in this game, his original design WAS changed and it looked awkward. Everyone can agree on that. The Zoomers and Shriekbats and many others. just because they were trying to keep them in the intended form doesn't mean they had to stray far from their in game designs from back then. Look at street fighter 4, they tried to keep every character's design intact and yet capcom managed to ace it being like street fighter 2 in looks (even though the graphics looked a tad fucked) RE: Metroid: Other M - Alpha Six - 09-08-2010 (09-08-2010, 04:04 PM)masterofdioga Wrote: Look at street fighter 4, they tried to keep every character's design intact and yet capcom managed to ace it being like street fighter 2 in looksand gameplay FYI Street Fighter characters aren't hard to keep "true to their original appearances." Or any fighting game character, really. That's an awful argument. RE: Metroid: Other M - PrettyNier - 09-09-2010 Quote:This is official Super Metroid artwork. They look exactly the same as they did in Other M.man, because a.) the concept art matters when in reference to the in-game presentation b.) every single other M enemy is actually from super metroid RE: Metroid: Other M - DioShiba - 09-09-2010 (09-08-2010, 09:15 PM)Alpha Six Wrote:(09-08-2010, 04:04 PM)masterofdioga Wrote: Look at street fighter 4, they tried to keep every character's design intact and yet capcom managed to ace it being like street fighter 2 in looksand gameplay Actually, it can be easy for any game outside of the fighting genre though. Look at what Nintendo does with Mario, they at least keep everything nearly, if not exactly the same for that series with out making it completely suck. this on the other hand looks just, vastly different aside from samus' own design. Not even great for nostalgia goggles. I completed it fully 2 days ago. The gameplay methods were very different but worked brilliantly, graphics were breaking the limits, nice music, story was immense, 5/5! My favorite game aspect is first the 2.5D view of the game and sensemove. Sensemove really, really made it all the more better/ People criticize this too much. Its sad, get a life, no one likes you :p (I'm joking, please don't hurt me!) I was disappointed 'bout the last boss though. And how short it was! RE: Metroid: Other M - GaryCXJk - 09-14-2010 In defense of how Ridley looks, it's Team Ninja. They're known for designing stuff with two beefy arms, uneven style and constabulate V's. Well, perhaps not the last one. RE: Metroid: Other M - Ton - 09-14-2010 Consummate Vs? So Ridley looks as terrible as he does on the live action commercial? That makes me sad. In defense of how this horrible design looks, all these aspects are common in the team's other horrible designs. There's also the classic Team Ninja plastic sheen. Love that team, mediocre in everything but combat. Though looking at the Ridley battle, it looks so limited and repetitive. RE: Metroid: Other M - Ngamer01 - 09-15-2010 Ridley isn't a one trick pony in Other M. Sure he's got his trademarks, but he's got new moves too. |
