RE: SPRITING DICTIONARY (and resources) - Gors - 05-23-2012 it was good to notice me, thegameexplorer, I'll be looking for image replacements asap RE: SPRITING DICTIONARY (and resources) - Medevenx - 07-03-2012 What's Cluster? RE: SPRITING DICTIONARY (and resources) - Chris2Balls [:B] - 07-06-2012 A cluster is an interbound group. In this case, a pixel cluster is a group of interconnecting pixels. It usually denominates pixels of the same values (e.g. a square cluster of 4x4 pixels that are all #000000 a.k.a. black in hex). Edit: Derp. RE: SPRITING DICTIONARY (and resources) - Previous - 07-06-2012 Added an entry about pixel clusters to the post - tell me if something is all wrong. RE: SPRITING DICTIONARY (and resources) - Garamonde - 07-06-2012 If I may report an error, the 2nd dithering image and the 2nd jaggy lines image are broken. RE: SPRITING DICTIONARY (and resources) - Gors - 07-10-2012 I shall rewrite all of this when I get the time. The next version will have better visual examples and layout. RE: SPRITING DICTIONARY (and resources) - Virt - 07-10-2012 I've always wondered, how is banding a failed attempt at anti-aliasing? I thought it was supposed to be a flawed method of shading.. I thought it was supposed to be a flawed method of shading..It can be both. When you anti-alias, you try to smoothen your lines by adding buffering pixels. Now if you buffer all along your lines in order to make them "smooth", you have banding, voila! RE: SPRITING DICTIONARY (and resources) - Candel - 10-20-2012 Most new members dont understand the term 8-bit (like me) I know it has only to do with the game console itself, but maybe write it down for new members who try to sprite 8-bit? RE: SPRITING DICTIONARY (and resources) - Garamonde - 10-20-2012 It's best to just call it NES style even if it's used by multiple platforms, as far as I'm concerned. RE: SPRITING DICTIONARY (and resources) - Previous - 10-21-2012 It doesn't exist. It's not a spriting term. Some people think it is, but it is not. Generally, people should not use it. The 8-bit consoles (third generation etc blabla don't ask me I'm not that old), as in, NES, Sega SG-1000, MegaDrive, Atari 7800 and whatever else is counted towards them have a bunch of differences in graphics capabilities so whoever wants to make "8-bit" sprites should rather check what console / game / whatever he is taking as a reference for "8-bit" styles. Personally, I do not see the point in making such anyways except for "shading is hard *whinewhine*" tl;dr 8-bit is not a proper, defined spriting term. RE: SPRITING DICTIONARY (and resources) - Hiynastrike - 10-21-2012 I wanted to make bronze statues but I don't know how to dither correctly RE: SPRITING DICTIONARY (and resources) - Garamonde - 10-21-2012 and that is why you make a spriting topic of your own to help with making bronze statues that isn't something you post about here -- please only add suggestions or report errors you see in this thread and don't dither if you don't know how to use it properly, especially when you are a beginner spriter RE: SPRITING DICTIONARY (and resources) - DarkMalfunction - 10-30-2012 (07-01-2010, 02:22 PM)Mighty Switch Gors Wrote: This, for example, is a sprite rip.
